Your shackles should be beyond vertical; past the top shackle bolt. If you were looking at the side of the truck, they should look like this / \. Yours are like this \ /.

Are the shackles too tight? Do they flex?

They are not tight, I believe it is that the springs are too arched and are therefore short - causing that reach.:confused::confused:

Do a search on 'shackle angle'. You'll find some info on adding weight and flexing the springs out.

Maybe try some shackles that are closer to stock lenghth?

Edit: After looking at the first pics again, they already look to be close to stock length, maybe a bit longer.

And it's gone.............all 59lbs of it!!!:bounce::bounce:

Yea, thinking OEM or SOR's HD bumper (similar but thicker metal and not as long). Just need to get rid of the rest of the welded bumper brace, prep and paint the frame and I am ready!

Update:

A huge thank you goes out to homebuiltcruiser who sent me the bumper hangers for free!!!!

I have cleaned/prepped/painted the frame and ready to install my SOR bumper but have now discovered how tweaked the drivers-side front frame really is....

What are all your thoughts on what I can do about this? Come along to try to bend the frame slightly in? Just drill new holes into the bumper brackets and leave as is? Advice appreciated!

Looks so much better! the drivers side frame rail has definately been tweeked, do you have any issues with the front end tracking straight, if not you are probably fine.

Personally I would try to get it fixed. Take it to an auto body/frame shop and see what they think. I bet they could fix it without too much trouble.

X3 about taking it to a body and frame guy.. i'm all about doing the work myself but from what i can tell or cant tell is what part is bent.. the dent in the cross member should have pulled those frame horns in not out... dunno hard to tell by pics ...good luck

x4 on frame and body shop they can fix that .. its not that bad...
if it was me i would probably fix with a hi lift jack..:D
