Reg: 1.14.9 in Nanaimo

Holy cats.

Esso at Rutherford and Uplands. The sign said $1.17.9, but the pump said $1.14.9.

It's the apocalypse.

gas was 1.14 and diesel is still up at 1.30-1.33 in duncan...

yeah kinda ironic when diesel is cheaper to process... one of the problems right now is petro canada's diesel refinery (south of Ft.Mac.) plant is shut down for an upgrader, leaving half the town up here completely out of diesel(including cardlocks completely closed) and it won't be online for another several weeks...
good thing diesel for me is free and i've got a 500L tidy tank in the back of the truck!

Diesel is always a little more expensive in the winter because it competes with stove oil and requires extra addatives for the winter in most parts of Canada.

yup, but as of late it seems that diesel is just more expensive period....its been more than gas all summer as well...

I heard someone say it's getting used more by the airlines to offset the price of jet fuel. I guess it's compatable? But that was just 2nd hand info from some guy, never looked into it.

So that could be part of the reason, the other of course is just the blatant douchebaggery of the people who run that s***.

" wow, the great unwashed hordes will actually pay 1.30 for diesel, so why the hell should we lower the price???"

Jet fuel is more refined and lacks the lube properties of diesel. More like stove oil. Turbines can run on diesel but most are not aproved to run on for extended periods of time and require expensive maintenance after. I'm sure the airlines have much more strict requirements for fuel. I would rather operate my truck on Jet fuel than my helicopter on diesel...

I used to fuel the airplanes here in vic, out at the airport, and they do a 4 liter water test befor fueling the big jets and several times a day, the fuel goes into a tank called the slop tank, thats just sample fuel , so we used to run Jet-A (slop)in my diesel blazer, not enough to dry it out, but i also run the lubricant, or biodiesel. wild times, we were encouraged to used up the jet A and the 110LL in our cars so they dident have to pay to get rid of it. my Saturn at the time used to REALLy haul on the 110LL
if you look at the airport, and see the front wheel drive cars , cut in half with frames way out in front, they are for carying float planes around that dont have wheels, they all run on 110LL slop . Killer fast those things.:meh:

If I had a diesel cruiser I would bring home as much off spec Jet as I could and burn that. We usually give it locals for stove oil.

and you don't have a diesel cruiser yet because.......you like paying for fuel.:p

ya know what? I have considered it and I can't justify buying an oil burner when I put about 500 miles on my cruiser in the last 1.5 years... Pay one way or another... :flipoff2:
