Red or pink coolant? (Answer: 03 and earlier - Red; 04 and newer - Pink)

I'm gonna use the xerex valvoline blue asian next time if it's cheaper. Maybe even the PEAK brand!

But your vehicle calls for red for the reason cited above.... I don't know if the JDMs were any different but I also have a 2002.10 production date

Apparently they started using pink in Japan before any other market as the TSB above shows. Dealer said the difference is red is concentrated and pink is premix. Toyota TSB shows no problem in mixing them.

In addition, according to my research on Toyota forums, red is good for 30k miles. Pink however is 10 years factory fill, and 5 years after that or 100k miles, whichever comes first.

I would've kept the pink :)

Gotcha.

Yeah that all appears to be accurate with the exception of the chemical compound within the coolant. Honestly, I never think too hard about this but there is certainly a difference in what's being used in the Red VS Pink according to toyota docs.

Suppose I will just suggest to use whatever your manual says. Mine says red so I stick with it.
