My wife and I have been looking for a Duece for awhile (both ret. AF). Couldn't find one that we liked and they had 40 so-odd 5 tons at auction in Indianapolis. Was fortunate to get the one I was hoping for and should be picking it up next weekend. Cheaper than a Duece and it has power steering and can go over 45mph. Anyone heading to IN?

The 5 ton actually runs along better than the Dueces do. They will run almost 70, but the tires are only rated for 55, I am hoping to run 50-55 to keep the rpm's reasonable for the 2-3 days it will hopefully take to get back. Probably stop every 4 hours or so for fuel.

Way cool. I have been looking at those from time to time as well. How much did you pay for it if you don't mind me asking? I would drive only at night but I think intestate that way is only 60-65 for a while so you probably won't piss to many people off.

PM sent. Hoping to stay out of the way as much as possible. Thinking of adding some reflective magnets spelling "Caution MAX 55 mph".

Just put the reflective triangle on there and you are legal. That's what the graders and back hoes do here then head down powers in the middle of rush hour traffic. What are you going to use it for?
