I don't drive a pick up truck but do have a 78 fj45 in the process of getting on the road.
So this question is for those who Have and Use their pick up ( what ever brand ) truck.
I would like to know what purposes one may use the rear box for ?

I have the existing rusted fj45 box and am planning a rebuild with new panels plus any mods that I can improve on.
Once I get some solid ideas I will be fabricating a complete box either out of stainless or steel.
My attitude is : almost anything is possible. So if you have any ideas please lay'em on me !

If by chance you do use the box of your Ford or what ever brand to haul what ever but wish it had more features please list them and what you have loaded in the past or know of !

If there are any off road items please list.

I'm trying to get some ideas though since thinking about this I have come up with some items I would haul or items I would incorporate !

- drywall or plywood 4 x 8 sheet
- roll bar / cage - adjustable
- load hooks for securing items
- tone cover
- hoist attachment
- topper possibiity
- canoe rack

I have often admired the fold down box into flat deck though it lacks the 45 look, but its very functional.

This what hauled in my 45 last weekend. I tried living without a pickup for a 6 months once. What a mistake that was! You'll be surprised at how often you will use the bed to haul the large as well as the small. BTW I have a decent 75' model bed for sale.
