As the title says, the rear wheels are locking up when I brake. This is much more pronounced in the mornings when I drive it first.
E-brake cable sticking? or the wheel cylinders? Bell cranks?

Where can I get cylinders, shoes and the springs easiest and fastest? does Napa have any of these parts?

thansk,
Jan

Have you pulled the drums off yet? I'll bet the problem will be apparent as soon as you take a look. Might just need some minor lubrication.

I'll do that friday. I assume they are very similar to the Land Cruiser drums, which I have taken apart often. just wondering about where to get the parts best...
thanks,
cheers,

I doubt it, but if the 81 has a LSPV (load sensing proportioning valve) take a look at that.

Oh and all the things listed above....

Lube lube and lube first. New fluid.

Rebuild kits can be purchased at Nappa.

The drums are very common in design so it should not give you much issues.

Do you see any leaks in the rear?

The rear tires on my '85 were locking up an snowy roads. I adjusted the long rod that goes to the load sensing proportioning valve till the symptons went away. I would test the truck on a slick road as I made small adjustments. I set it so that all four tires would tend to lock up at the same time.
