Rear Washer Routing Diagram/Details?

While replacing my upper back door over the weekend...by myself....not fun. I accidentially let the washer hose slip through the truck. So, I'm just not sure where it routes. Why the hell it goes through on the passenger side, when the reservoir/pump in on the DS....
I just tried looking at a few older posts for the hose replacement and I see mentions of headliner removal, etc. I hope not as mine's fairly decent and I'd like to keep it on.
Anyone got any ideas? I don't mind routing another way, if it'll be easier. I just want to get it on. I unplugged my bag on the back so I'm not shooting fluid god knows where in the meantime.

if you pull out the rear cargo light you might be able to see the tube. mine was all dry rotted from heat. so i ran a piece of stiff wire from the cargo light to the driver side corner pillar. you can go on the outside and take out the vent cover and vent and you can get your hand up there to get the wire coming from the cargo light. i then attached a new tube on the wire and pulled it to the cargo light, i then pushed the wire from where it leaves the body to the cargo light. attached the tube and pulled it out. you should be able to feed it down thru the hatch to the nozzle. hope that helps
 
it's not actually that hard to remove the rear interior trim peices and pop the last headliner hoop off of the side mounts. Do that and it should be relatively easy to route. Hardest part is navigating around the rear light. seems like there are a lot of metal panels around there.
 
I'm a bit interested in this as well, just found out (the hard way) that mine is busted somewhere along the way, and I had washer fluid leaking down the passenger side of my rear liftgate. Did the setup change at all throughout the whole 60 series, or is it different between the 60/62? Also, could someone post pics/diagram of how to access the tube from the inside? I'd like to be sure of how to get there before doing anything.

P.S. - I agree, why they route the tube along the door to the passenger side when the pump is on the driver's side, is beyond me.
 
Rear Washer Tube

Had the same problem with mine. Turn on the back washer and spray the cargo area.

Tube broke where it runs from the passenger side of the liftgate into the ceiling - behind the headliner. You can see where the tube passes between the lifgate and the ceiling - it is encased in a black expandable tube. I removed the plastic trim on the headliner and peeled back the headliner from the metal edge. Cut and removed the tube between the break and the sprayer on the window, added a nylon insert and new tubing from the insert to the spray nozzel. You have to remove the plate behind the wiper motor to attached the tube to the spray nozzel.

Used weatherstripping glue to re-tack the headliner and it works good. Biggest problem was fishing the nylon insert splice back behind the headliner - there is a small channel up there which the tubing runs through, and getting the tubing to bend into the liftgate without creasing.

I was looking at my 60 and it seemed to be running up the drivers side. Are the 60's different from the 62's in this case?

Your washer bag is in the drivers side panel but the hose runs up the corner post, crosses the cargo area behind the headliner and goes into the lift gate on the passenger side through that rubber boot.

New to me 60. Filled the rear reservoir ran pump and heard what I thought was the sound a small hose busting, then water in the cargo are through the rear passener side quarter vent. The hose busted in that same spot, just as it enters the grommet behind the headliner.

I discovered the check valve in line, located at the botton of the lift gate just about where the hose starts to go horizontal over to the nozzel. I thought it was just a blue double male connector but no, a small ball/spring valve, and it was stuck...pressure of the pump blew the weakest spot of the hose and by the discoloration on that hose in that grommet area it must be subject to some heat in the summer.

All better now.

Old thread, but i just pulled apart and redid all the wiring connections and wiper fluid tubing for the rear tailgate of my 1985 FJ60. The upper tailgate was replaced with a Fj62 tailgate, so I think I understand the "why" of the longer routing as questioned above. In both the 60/62 the driver side has several wires/connections going through the rubber extended two-sided grommet and there would not be enough room for the wiper tubing to go through. Connections include wiring for the rear dome light, the rear defrost, the rear wiper motor, the one wire connector that attaches to the lock for the upper tailgate latch, etc. On the passenger side for the 60, the rubber extended grommet only had the wiper tubing going through it. Later for the 62, on the passenger side there was also wiring for the electric locking mechanism. I removed the motor and associated wire and had plenty of room for the wiper fluid tubing to go through. I even decided to "wrap" the wiper tubing in 1/4" wire sheathing for extra protection all the way from spray head to fluid bag. I also replaced the check valve with a new one from Amazon. Not even sure I am going to use the rear wiper fluid, but I wanted it all there before I install the headliner...just in case. I will admit that this is a LONG run for the wiper fluid tubing, but since the rear wiring harness is on the driver side Toyota had to balance it all on both sides.
