i don't think thicker is a problem, the only really important dimension is the spacing between the slot and the threaded/clearance hole

All a rear sway bar is going to do is limit articulation. It was the first thing I took off. On my 62, which sees highway miles, I left the front one on. On my 60, I took off the front and picked up about 70 points on a 20 degree RTI index ramp. I noticed no difference onroad with the rear dissconnected and I have a very heavy roof rack, tent, fuel cans, etc.
