How do you get rid of my sagging suspension 4Runner syndrome that is so common in in 2nd Gen 4Runners?

Do I buy landcriuser coil springs or get 2" spacers to go on top of my old stock springs in the rear?

Any suggestions?

No, OME. Old Man Emu. Check the link, you can buy them right there.

I've installed several of these sets of springs on 2ng gen 4Runners. Sooo much better than stock and it fixes the butt sag. You might need to crank up your torsion bars a tiny bit to level the truck out.

buy my pro comp springs is what you do :p

My fix for mine was Fj-Cruiser Springs and a 4Crawler Offroad 1-1/2" ball-joint spacer combined with a 4" LSPV lift bracket with the bolts for the bracket spaced at 3" and the adjuster set to the proper factory pressure.

Assuming you don't actually want to lift the truck, just level it, I'd go with Moog CC255 coils. I think they call them "cargo coils" or something. You should be able to get the pair off rock auto for around 70 bucks. And they're rebranded at all the parts stores, just look for the CC255 in the part number somewhere.

I run them on mine, this is sitting on 31's. Definitely don't want more lift if your tires are 31 or smaller. They are stiffer than the factory coils and ride really nice.

How is your 4Runner when you load it down with a trailer or the with the back full of heavy gear and people?

Do you have pics with your rig loaded down on those MOOG CC255 springs?
Do you have before and after pics?
How long have you had them on your 4Runner?

I'm curious, what's your top rim edge to fender lip measurements front and rear? I can grab mine for comparison. FWIW I can put about 500-ish lbs of gear and things barely drop 3/4" from dead level. :D

No pics, but I've had 4 people plus backpacking gear plus 15-20 gallons of water without noticeable sag. I'm sure there was some but the truck still looked level. So far I have about 6000 miles on them, 3000 of which were loaded hard with about 500 miles of loaded down wheeling. The coils haven't sagged at all.

If I remember correctly the front measures 14" rim to lip, 13.5 in the rear. It does appear a tiny bit raked like this but I don't mind. By the time these would sag I should be sas. :)

Great looking truck by the way. If I go to 33's I'll be doing the cruiser coil lift.

For the sake of the thread those coils are rear from fj80's. If possible get a pair of left or rights. They are slightly different lengths. Maybe only 1/4" but people have noticed.

Hi - I'm thinking of installing either the CC255 coils or the OME 2900's - will both of these work with stock shocks, or say with the Rancho 5000 shocks? Or will they provide enough "lift" to require a modified shock?

Thanks!

Don't need longer shocks for the CC255. They're the way to go, IMO, to get rid of sag and level out stance.

Sorry to revive this thread but I am in the same boat about deciding between the MOOG CC255 and the OME 2900 to fix the rear sag of a '92 4runner. I've seen multiple accounts of rear sag persisting with the Moogs and people tend to then add 1.5" spacers after they notice the rear is still sagging with the new moogs. On the other hand there's just as many people online saying the Moogs solve the rear sag issue. At half the price of the OME's I'd love for the Moog's to work. Do you have a photo of your 4runner with the moog CC255 springs installed? Also does anyone know if you need longer shocks with the OME 2900 springs?

These were taken in the last couple years. The coils have been on for several years now, probably more than 10, and I haven't noticed any sagging. However, I only drive it during winter months so the 4Runner doesn't see a lot of miles or heavy loads in the back. My route home there is off pavement so it does bounce around on every excursion. I've seen 2nd gens with OME rears. They provide substantial lift and would look extremely stink bug without lifting the front, something I want to avoid. Pretty sure you'd need longer shocks.

Thanks for the quick response, that looks like a good stance. I think I'm currently torn between the moog springs or just throwing the 1.5" daystar spacers on the original springs.

Not sure if you made a decision, but I’ve had the Moog Coils on one and Daystar spacers on another. They both seemed to sit and ride pretty well. Coils were easier to install from what I remember. I’ve driven the white one on the Daystars with some pretty heavy loads (For a 22re…): 2 adults, 2 kids, gear, bikes, etc and it sits level or just below.
Pics- White one: On Daystar spacers with a load, Red: Moog Coils sitting empty
