On my 62, the rectangular metal surround around the hatch's latch mechanism (the flat plate that has a rubber seal/foam gasket and the 3 bolts going through it) that seals around the latch mechanism is completely smoked and rotted apart. Not even remotely worth trying to salvage.

However I'm having a hard time finding one used or new. Mainly because I can't seem to find a part number for it anywhere, or even what it's called. Can anyone help me out here?

Check the classifieds for people parting out 60/62 trucks. @FJ40 MATT sold me some pieces of an FJ62 recently, see if you can find his posting.

Cruiser Yard is another resource.

Also, take a picture, not really certain what you’re looking for. It’ll help with the googles.

SOR and Amayama have really good diagrams as well.

Parting Out Thread 'Parting out a Running 89 FJ62 w ARB Bumper & 189k Miles in New Jersey'

Hey I’m going to start parting out a 89 FJ62 this weekend that runs and drive but has no brakes. All “4” windows go up and down with their switches on the door and the main switch panel on the driver door. The front wipers work well and so does the rear wiper motor work on both speeds. The dash pad, dash, front & rear plastic seat belt covers, and door panels are all in good shape. The frame is bad and most of the body panels are as well. If you need a part or have a question just let me know

Mine is basically gone, but here is a photo I found online of the piece I'm looking for. It's the rusty metal plate that is surrounding the latch mechanism. It has a foam/rubber seal bonded to it.
