hey guys,

this is my first 4runner! 85 22re with the solid front axle. Got her going after a bit but she has her quirks and a new one just yesterday, much less thirsty then my FJ's!

1) the rear window motor works but only the driver side slides down too fast. I removed the panel cleaned the connections and even gorilla glued the track at the bottom(not removing just letting it drip in the track. the window still only goes down on proper on the right side. glass shifts down to the driver side. could only find electrical issues whiles searching the forum

2) the electrical surges a little while i have the fan on and headlights etc. slowly going through connections but didnt know if there were things to look for

3)shes been doin great, just today went to take the dogs on the trail and the damn rear axle is locked up, had to get it in 4 wheel low with an awful noise to get her back 30ft. e brake hadnt even been working at all before that.

thanks a bunch guys!:beer::beer::beer::beer:

nice 4runner coloradofj1, I wonder if the rear brake shoes froze some how to the brake drum

Take a look at the bell cranks for the e-brake, where they go through the brake backing plate. They like to seize up on the pivot pins, which can lock up the brakes.

The rear window sounds like a linkage issue. Think of it like a door regulator on steroids. It sounds like one of the regulator attachment points on the PS may be loose or missing a bolt which is allowing it to shift in the track. I will get my FSM out in a bit and try to get a picture up for you.

Thanks for the responses guys, Its a chilly 10 degrees with some fresh snow but Im hoping to get her out today. Ill report what i find!
