Rear door hinge!

I recently did my door hinge. Used some generic GM pins and bushings that you can buy at any parts store for about $30. The hardest part was getting the old pins out. I mounted them in my big vise and I had to use a fair bit of heat and my variable angle swing press, it probably took about 20 mins per hinge to get them apart. Then a little drilling to fit the new size bushings and pins. Then I reassembled them and now my doors work brilliantly. You could do one at time so you don't have to take the doors off, just make sure you do them all.

Any chance on a part number? There are a ton of hinge pin kits out there having trouble finding a generic GM one

cheers

So I finally did my hinges. I took them off and took them to a shop here in Spruce Grove, Alberta. For $45 each they pushed out the old pins, drilled bigger holes (holes were oblong) and pressed in new pins, fixed a brass washer and put some nice lube in it. I cleaned them up and painted them with black rustoleum and put them on the truck today. They fit perfect. So all in all I was in for $180. Another posted mentioned they got it done for $100, but I was in a hurry, and its better than paying $175 per hinge for new ones. Barf. See Pictures.

Notice the snapped hinge pin. The shop said they were ALL snapped, just the one was actually snapped at the joint.

They put oversize pins in due to overboring the existing oblong holes.

Notice the broken bolt. ;p I have some bolts on order, and until I get them I took the spare tire off that door to relieve some of the stress.

All in all a good adventure. The shop knew exactly what I wanted and did it in 2 hours. The doors work AWESOME!!!

Pitty the fraight is so dear to the US, i rebuild them $240 for the set. The pins are hard to get out because 90% are broken. I cut them then push and drill them out. Stainless pin with 2 10mm brass bushes then fit grease nipples. I have done around 40 sets over the past 8 years . If you fit a grease nipple when they are good they seem not to size up and break. I have just drilled and fitted greasenipples to out 4 HZJ105s befors they size.
