Hey all. I got a 92 fj80 with rear disc brakes from factory.

I'm looking to upgrading to drilled and slotted and I know the front rotors are a different size. But are the rear rotors the same from 90-97?

Also I searched the part number on toyodiy but it's showing me that all the 90-97 hdj/hzj and the fj80 uemse the same rotor.

Can anyone confirm this?

Dan

Also seeing that it's locked axles. Can I upgrade the brakes to newer 93-97 rotors and calipers by just swapping over the components?

91 & 92 had smaller front disk brakes and drums in the rear in the US market. They also had Semi float rear axles

Some time in the 93 year model they went to a full float rear axle with disk brakes and larger front disks with the option to get lockers. Again US market.

Either someone swapped in a rear axle from a later vehicle, or you've got something we never had in the US.

Have you put your VIN into a parts website to see what it says you have?

From my understanding and research with the vin it did intact come with lockers and rear disc brake from factory. It's a JDM vx model.

Have a look at it if you like. Fj80-0048791

Here's a pic of the plate. Some research shows that k294 axle code is for the lockers??

If that's the case then JDM got lockers be for US market did.

FWIW I run Power Stop drilled ans slotted rotors on my K294 94 Cruiser. They have front and rear kits. And there a nice improvement !!

So you recon since it's already a disc brake rotor. Getting calipers and rotors and backing plates should be an easy swap for the back? Front my reaching I know the front should already can just bolt in.

The rotor appears to be 42431-60080. Searching for that p/n says it fits FJ80 1990-1992, HDJ80 1990-1995, HDJ81 1990-1995, HZJ80 1990-1998.

Just confirming what you said about the rotors being the same on '90 - '97/98 HZJ80. Interesting that it does not appear to be the same as the FZJ80.

I found that very strange too that it spanned more years than just the 91-92 but doesn't include the fzj80.

This site claims their rotor kit fits all of these:
* TOYOTA LANDCRUISER FZJ80, HDJ80 & HZJ80 8/1992-1998 REAR
* TOYOTA LANDCRUISER FZJ80R 4.5L 158Kw 11/1992-2/1998 REAR
* TOYOTA LANDCRUISER HDJ80R 4.2TD 118Kw 8/1992-2/1998 REAR
* TOYOTA LANDCRUISER HZJ80R 4.2D 96Kw 8/1992-2/1998 REAR

If I were you, I'd measure your current rotor.
