I'm currently in the process of treating the rear of my vehicle with POR-15 and noticed the rear corner being rotted out. Is it advisable to get some steel and patch it up? I never really dealt with rust with my past vehicles so I'm unsure if the corner is important for structural integretity. A welder has quoted me $150 for the repair.

The GX has a fully boxed frame with 9 cross members. It's as stout as they come. That said, the rear corners take a tremendous load whilest towing, so I'd have it repaired.

Its important in a rear end crash and if you use the truck to tow/recovery situation.

$150 is relatively cheap.
