I recently did a AHC delete on my 08 lx. I put a 2 inch OME kit in, I put the "coil alignment cone" back into the coil from the stock AHC system. I was pretty sure it was a bump stop at a quick glance. Do you actually need that "alignment" cone? Ive been doing some research and it appears that you dont need it, apperently it can help reduce the rake if you remove it.

Is it normal to remove that? Would it cause a lack of support in the suspension feel when its deeper into the travel?

My main goal was to reduce the rake the OME kit has. Any advice would be appreciated!

Thanks

Those are the “soft” bump stops. They provide a much more gradual rise in spring rate as the axle travels up, hopefully slowing things before bottoming the shocks. Without them you are left with only the much more firm ones that sit above the axle on the frame, which were designed to be helped by the ones you are talking about removing.

IMO it’s not a great idea. A number of people do remove them but that is usually to install airbags which then become a progressive spring, particularly good at preventing bottoming.

They're important to keep and make a big difference in g-outs or hard baja type driving. You may not drive in that manner, but even in an emergency or accident situation, it can be the difference in loss of control when bottoming out too harshly. It's also really important to protecting the passengers, frame, and vehicle in an unintended bottom out situation.

Thank you, sounds good I won't touch them.

Speaking of bumps, I'm thinking of getting new ones and I think I'm going to go with the Perry Parts ones for the "hard" bumps front and rear.

Any recommendations for the rear "soft" bumps? I love slow speed stuff and desert running type driving, would this be a good application for airbags? Adding support on big hits without limiting my compression travel for slow speed stuff would be the hope.
