I noticed this morning that my rear air was blowing out luke warm air at best. The front AC was working fine and seems cold. I had the temp set as low as it would go. Is the rear air on some type of separate system ?? Any ideas ?? Thanks, Chad

I believe the rear has its own compressor.

Make sure you were actually setting teh temp in teh rear. To be sure, hit the climate button on your dash, and de-activate the 4-zone control by pressing it on screen. This will make it send the same temperature request to all areas. Press the arrows until you hit "Lo" and then see what it does. Make sure you don't over-ride and return to 4-Zone, which can happen if you press a non-driver adjustment arrow somewhere (if the passenger hits their button, it goes to 4-Zone...if you only control it via the driver's arrows, it stays in 1 zone and adjusts all zones to driver settings).

**Edit: Also remember you can hit the arrow in climate control screen that changes the screen to rear-control settings. And of course...make sure you have turned the rear system on with its own button below the screen (mine is an 08...not sure what you may have that differs). If you have not activated the rear system, it may well just blow uncooled air back there.

I wondered if it had its own compressor or it was all on one.

Mine is also an 08. Everything seems to be turned on to the right setting. I double checked when I noticed it was blowing warm. I guess I just need freon? I wasn't sure about the two compressors or if it ran on just one. Thanks

Have you checked the big fuse for the rear compressor?

This morning I noticed that the two front passenger vents are blowing out warm air , but the two drivers side vents are blowing out cold ??

Take it out of 4Zone mode ( we are each side sets its temperature separately ). Press Climate button...The screen button that says 4zone so that it is no longer highlighted... now set the temperature using your drivers side up and down arrows.

If you've already done that? Probably time to take it in for inspection…

I add freon to mine last year before my trip out west which was a great move on my part. Glad you fugured it out

On our family trip home last night I had all our climate settings correct, and had the same issue. Temp the same everywhere, outside temp was 50ish. Even with interior temp set to lo, the rear blew cold air out of the rear left passenger vent, and warm air out of the rear right passenger vent. When I moved the interior temp up to 68, both rear vents blew warm air.

Guess I’ll be looking at Freon levels tomorrow once stores open back up.

Are we certain these things have a separate compressor for the rear? If so it would also need a separate condenser or maybe another dedicated section within the front condenser core.

I don't have my truck with me to look more closely for myself.

Thinking ahead, is adding freon to the 200 series an easy DIY, or should one take it to the dealership/indy?

If you have a set of gauges and some experience it is basically the same as any other car. Plus you can check the pressure before even buying any refrigerant in the first place.

Whatever you do, DONT use one of these “top off/leak seal” bottles with hose available at auto parts stores. You need gauges on both the low and high sides of the compressor and an understanding of what different temperatures do to refrigerant pressures to fill the system to a correct level and avoid damage.

Timely thread as just returned home from a "grand kid" Holiday run and noticed the folded 3rd row seat area was kinda warm when I checked on the dog (who rides back there). To confirm, to set a low rear temp I should:

1) turn off the rear via climate screen
2) adjust temp via drivers side temp button on center stack to the setting wanted (in this case around 65)
3) Then turn the rear back on to "set" the temp for that zone (zone 4)

Am I following y'all correctly?
