Rear AC Line caps (1 Viewer)

Good news. Been several months for me still ice cold. Quick cheap fix.

I have a significant leak in my rear ac lines above the muffler. These leaks seem to be at the joint where the lines have existing breaks and are connected with compression fittings. Rather than replace lines does it make sense to simply cap off those lines at the joint and abandon the rear ac? Would that be an evil thing to do to my dogs? (they did eat one of my seats, so maybe they are deserving of a little ****) Is it likely that the join has worked itself loose or is this just where those lines fail?

Thanks in advance.

If I do cap them where do i get the caps and does anyone know the size and thread count etc?
HI guys,

I have a Toyota Sienna and the rear AC is failing. I've already thrown way too much money trying to fix it, so I want to cap the rear lines via getting someone to TIG weld it. I just want to TIG weld the last bit of lines near the rear wheel. Would the front AC work ok with that much extra line having R134a in it?

Anyone who has blocked off the rear this way please comment. Thanks!

Regards, JC.

I had a local Cruiser mechanic cap the lines in my '01 LX470 and I couldnt be happier, ICE COLD.
Here is all the info you need to get this done on your own or have your mechanic get it done.

The two caps are available at Autozone and on Amazon:
Dorman 800-996 3/4" O.D. Line Terminator
Dorman 800-994 5/16" O.D. Line Terminator

Thank you to this discussion thread for the tips, I would have had no idea this was possible and now I have my AC fixed for my purposes for cheap.

Also, if you are in LA, Armando at K and H imports in Canoga Park would be happy to take care of this for you.

Someday I'll learn to come here first for the correct solution instead of Googleing my life away in frustration. Ordered the caps from Amazon. Dealer wanted $1,800 to repair. Third row seats are never used and second row rarely used. Thanks once again mudders!

@470inSoCal. Your link does not work. Can you post the correct link?

I tried the link above and it failed. I did a search for "lc100 rear ac cap" and got a few videos. These two are basically the same procedure, using the Doorman parts listed above:

** These links show how to block off the rear lines from within the engine bay.
