I've looked but not seen anyone making a t-case skid plate for the 100. Sure, the FJ-cruiser got a couple of options already. I saw the pic of Somol's ALu plate. Could Slee's 80 be altered? Anyone got one they want to show off? Full belly or just T-case?

TJM has a sump guard for the IFS trucks (they also make a one-piece sump/transmission guard, but only for the live-front-axle trucks, i.e. 105s). Also, I think Christo also has one in the works.

Some real skidplates under my truck would give me peace of mind driving over trash in NYC, ;) In all honesty, I really think thats where the big lacking is right now. Ive been wanting some underside protection for quite some time now. Only serious things i could find were for the 105's

I found some from a french manufacturer on several european sites, but they are expensive:

I made one to at least protect better than stock. I need to do a little redesign on it...but again it has saved my t-case numerous times in the past almost 2-years.

It would be nice to have a steel or aluminum belly pan along with a better front pan too.

There just aren't that many folks out there modding/wheelin' their 100's to attract the aftermarket investors/manufacturers yet. There is, I think, a total of about 4-5 100 owners, in the whole country, that have done the 4.88 conversion...would have been sooooo much easier and less expensive if they made 4.88 100 r&p sets!

I am grateful to Christo for going out on that limb to design and sell his 100 rear bumper to us.

Pretty miniscule market overall potential for 100 gear really. For now we have to do it ourselves.

I think that underside protection, just for the sake of keeping all the vital organs protected is something people who dont even have armor elsewhere might be interested in having.

Is there any special proceedures needed to fab up these things? I guess i could find a metal shop to fab up a couple bolt on plates no?

The front and belly pan don't pose anything particularly challenging. However the t-case skid plate is a little more complex due to the bracing struts and proximity of frame attachment points...nothing that time can't solve ;)

Shotts, what no, "If you put J-shocks in and gain .6" rear travel you don't need a skid plate" Just busting your balls. Spressomon, you got a pic of what you made?

"Search an ye shall find"...but just in case your keyboard is broken (:flipoff2: ) here:

#1) It has served its purpose well for the past almost 2-years.
#2) Per Christo: The crossmember that I attached the upright support to is a floating crossmember. Not ideal...but neither is a cracked t-case;) .
#3) I intend to redesign it so that the support bracket attaches to, more than likely, the frame rails. But it works fine for me as is for the time being...and is a couple projects down on my list right now.

Spress, thanks for the link. I searched but never found that. I'm also stupid, so maybe that had something to do with it. :grinpimp:

Spress, if you ever decide to change yours out to steel, ill take that one off your hands. That looks like it was well designed and thought out.

Also, im glad to see that im not the only 100 on here with a slight coating of rust underneath. I see these guys on here with perfect undersides and i nearly tear, at how my truck looks due to the 7 NY winters.

FYI, the wheels have started to roll on the tx-case skidplate. We actually have a plan now, and I have another 100 to test on. Could not do it on mine due to the turbo exhaust being different.

You KNOW I can help you out with the test/demo thing Christo :D .

Mine came from Syracuse...so that's why it looks familiar to you :D .

UNLESS IT'S JUST ME BUT COMPANIES NEED TO STEP UP THE PACE! IT'S WAY OVER DUE AND I WOULD LOVE HOOK UP MY RIDE A WHOLE LOT MORE. THANK GOD FOR PEOPLE LIKE SLEEOFFROAD DOING THEIR THING. I'M JUST A UPSET OWNER WHO WANTS MORE:crybaby: LOL

Spressomon,

Is your bolt flushed with thick alum panel?

I have been in Rochester for five years with my Toyota Supra, not 2000 100 series, Thanks God!

Cheers,

Yes Jay I recessed the flat head hex bolts into the 6061 plate.

The market for the FJC is young kids who can't afford the higher end rigs, there are alread y a gazillion on the road. The after market guys know this, they see a market and are going for it. The average US 100 owner isn't going to do a lot of mods to their rig. After market guys simply cannot build product if there is no market for the merchandise. Now that used 100's are getting affordable for regular folks more stuff will be coming on the market.

BTW check your caps lock key, I think it's stuck.

I have a machine shop I use that has a water jet if you want to get some of those cut. He is a hunter so you could probably schmoose him up for a deal.
