5 minutes before breaking the front axle and ring gear. 2004 - British Columbia. Believe me that was the line and all the scratches buffed out

Tacoma to the rescue. Had to give up on the pull and winch out from a tree way high up on the mountain. People in charge thought the truck was going to rol over since the front wheel came of the ground.

By the way....what went wrong there? I know you said your lockers didn't work. I know your LX didn't have traction control. I know you busted when the wheel hit the ground.
Looking at the pic, the conditions don't look that bad. I know your LX was loaded up and therefore heavy. What made that climb so tough? Surface?

Oh, so you have the "100" of digital cameras, huh? Sweet! :)

OT I know but I love it! Took my first pic w/ it Saturday, this Camelia was the closest thing to my front door and was smaller than your fist:
NOT dial-up friendly btw

My compressor was wired to a momentary switch that would reset when the truck was turned off. The lockers were wired with 80 series oem locker switch. When the compressor was off, the lockers would not engage. I turned everything on, compressor, lockers etc and waited fror our chance to cross. Took to long, so I turned the truck off. Got out spotted the line etc etc. Got back in, started the truck, checked the locker switch (never the compressor) and proceeded to go into the creek. I was under the impression the lockers were on.

I had one shot to make the climb. You needed to turn sharp right at the top. So you kinda climbed sideways, but if you slid back, there was a huge rock that you would slip into if you got off the line backwards.

Floored it, it climbed ok, until the front tires crested. Before I could get my heavy foot off the throttle, the axle snapped. I suspect wheelspin with sudden traction. I am pretty sure if the lockers were on, I would not have broken or got stuck.

Lesson, last time I wire a compressor on a momentary switch. This was done because I hate toggle switches and try to use factory oem switches where possible. The choices for switches on the 1oo is kinda limited.

Hey Snook,
What's the story behind your ARB? Did you just not like the original design or did you damage it and have to repair it? Or is there a good story that needs to come out about how an ex-wife took a chain saw to it? Just curious why you chopped off the top. I like the "blade" style look that you have going. Good looking rig by the way.
