I am seriously thinking of buying a 100 series crusier rather than continuing to put more money into my 80 series, here are my questions, 1 how much suspension lift can you can at this time, 2 what is the largest tire anyone is running on a 100 series, and three I would love to see some more pics of modified 100's, there are a few in the photo section, but I would love to see more, thanks

1: 2.75" front, 3" rear
2: 35-inch
3: Somebody else will post I'm sure? Everybody's tired of my 100 pictures. ;p

Oh, and FZJ.....you're very smart for wanting one! :D

A couple of pix of my 02. Will be putting on some TJM sidebars as soon as I get a chance.

slee's Lx470 should give you some ideas

I chopped the ARB bullbar bumper by removing the upper bull tubes & frames, leaving the lower bull tube in place. The lower bull tube could be useful as a hand grab bar in awkward place while working with the winch.

Why did I chopped the bullbar, that's because the largest mammal species I have ever hit on the road is "Eutamias ruficaudus"!

Cheers,

hey snook was it really difficult to cut off the bars and how did you seal up the holes? i want to get the bar but have been searching around because i dont like the chrome bars. thanks

There are two standard version of ARB front bumpers, one is Sahara bar version (w/ chrome bar) - Shotts & Slee's while mine is a bull bar version.

If you're experience with cutting, welding & grinding then you can shaped it to your spec.

As for my ARB bull bar, I peeled the front metal strips off of bull bar frames then cut the frames out and push the metal strip back and re-welded. The exposed tube holes is covered with small parts from the discarded upper bull bar elbow tubes.

Cheers,

That's exactly what I've been wanting to do to my tacoma b/c the sahara bar isn't available for it; only the full bull bar. It is to overbearing on a little tacoma for my tastes. Nice job!!!

Snook,
That is a awesome mod. Looks great and completely stock as if ARB made it! Good work

Clever, very clever Snook. Another advantage to your bumper (besides offering better looks than a full bull bar) is the fact your lower half (the main bumper) is steel and therefore is much tougher than our lighter-duty Sahara Bars.

Sahara Bar's side light opening was enlarged and filled in with plastic shells and just a simple bar to reduce the overall load of ARB bumper.

I assumed that the Sahara bar is perfectly designed in mind for IFS Land Crusier while Bullbar bumper is for live axle Land Crusier (option version in Australia) where the bumper's weight is not an issue.

To light up the front even more by least 85lbs, I am considering relocate the Optima battery next to the spare tire under rear cargo floor. But will the battey be exposed to more destructive enviroment there? And can the Optima battery be install sideway, it is dry cell?

Last year, during Surf & Turf event at Pismo Beach, I was watching the 100 series owner, HI4LO, tried to climb up 40' high sand dune where speed is needed. However the IFS bottomed out repeatly when he hit the slope of sand dune, prevent him from gaining momentuim to reach the top of the dune. He didnt even have winch or ARB bumper at that time.

Christo: I was told my Sahara Bar was aluminum? Not true? I hit it once and put a pretty good dent in the bottom requiring some good work to fix it. I though the bull bars were steel?

Jay -

You've been hanging out with Amando too long... ;-)

See you at S'n'T!

Ha, actually, last year at S'n'T, I had 1992 80 series and I went up the same sand dune on my first attempt (ok, barely). Remember my engine is only 155 HP w/ my girls, dog & stuffs.

Looking from the top of the sand dune, it was amazing sight to watch HI4LO's 1999 100 series TRD supercharging (330 HP?) attempting to go up but something is hold him back, that was before I was told of his IFS bottomed out, the "Achilles heels" of 100 series.

Again, I will not reveal HI4LO's name to protect his identity (his confidence, actually).

Cheers,

It is the same as the regular bar. Steel. Plus you are not supposed to fix the dents :D

hey christo if i order a sahara from you can you take off the chrome bar for me (I have no cutting tools and would probably burn my house down)?
