Hey guys, I'm trying to diagnose a rattling noise that I am getting underneath my car.
his noise happens mainly when in reverse or drive. Goes away while driving (or at least I can't hear it). It also goes away when turning the steering wheel to the left or right. I'm not entirely sure where it's coming from but I think I'm close to the issue.

Here's a link to a video I took that shows the noise I'm talking about:

Streamable will expire the video in two days, so if anyone still wants to see the video after, just let me know here and I'll post the video to youtube or something.

Fwiw I do see the big oil leak right there. I am aware of a leak from the oil filter housing which is on my list to take care of soon. I'm hoping the engine isn't leaking in other spots, but I'll need to clean up, replace the filter housing and re-check. Also I'm pretty sure it's not the skid plate.

Any ideas what this noise could be from?

Unfortunately it's gonna be hard for any of us to tell you

That does sound like something external, like a loose shield or the fan is maybe rubbing in certain positions. You might have to try pressing on different shields until you figure out which one is loose, if that doesn't work then maybe inspect the fan shroud closer

Could also be the coolant reservoir being loose and rattling against the shroud

There's a lot of things that make that noise but at least it does sound external and not internal from what I can tell with the limited info that I have

Since it sounds like plastic against metal or rubber against plastic, I'd check:
-splash guards
-wheel wheel splash guards
-coolant reservoir
-wiper fluid reservoir
-battery tray (unlikely)
-fan shroud
-mounting points for fan shroud
-power steering hoses on front end
-plastic intake parts

if the sound is more metallic in nature (I can't tell):
-manifold heat shields
-front skid plate
-engine mounts. If rubber is completely rotten then it will rattle but I'd expect it to be louder

Is that your fan hitting the shroud? Can you look / video from above looking from behind the fan towards the plastic shroud
