Turned the brake assy parts down .003” to remove the majority of the corrosion and old brake pads.

Working on drain and fill ports. I think my estimate of 1” tall was a bit much so back to the lathe. I’ll shoot for 1/2” tall which should work out?

Found a used good condition pinion cam brake shaft from someone on the fb forums in AU. So that sucker is flying over this week. Working on getting the oil drain and fill plugs welded in early next week.

McMaster hardware ordered as well. Slowly coming together.

The Aussie Crowd is in love with "high mount" 8274 winches. The next upgrade I am eyeing is the rear brace weld on kit (or making my own). The kit welds on two additional supports to make it look like traditional planetary gear winches.

Baby steps but progress nonetheless.

New solenoid cables. To my surprise all the old solenoids treated good!

also fabbing my own rear brace bars. Don’t want to wait for the Aussies to send over a kit.

I need help finding a plug for the solenoid pack. The 3 pin socket is toast. I found the socket easy enough but then I found another that is a socket plus runs wires into the cab so you can control the winch using a switch.

Can anyone confirm or help if this is the part I need to do that?

Some of them say UTV or ATV. Are those sockets the same on truck solenoid packs too?

@Warn Industries

Andy?

Did you read the reviews in the links you posted?

I read some saying they were good for three wire winch plugs but others are saying UTV ATV. Worst case I'll have to call or email Warn directly.

I gave in and just bought a new 3 pin socket from Warn. Their pricing on a simple socket for $40 is rather high in my opinion comared to super winch remote and socket for roughly the same price. I understand quality but c'mon....

Ponied up for a new remote as well. I tested the remote last week and it worked but upon further inspection found that the wires were coming out of the connector a bit. Not wanting to deal with trail fixes in the future I got a new one.

If anyone needs a used working 3 pin original remote I'll let it go cheap to a mud member.

Drain and fill plugs done. Aussie style support bracing done.

Rollers drilled to fit offset arb bumper. Should be ok for now?

The Code "FV2" was on the top cover but was welded over during the fill plug install. That date of manufacture code comes out to June 22nd, 1982. The 2 at the end could be 72 etc but the plastic plug began in 1980 which gleans the 1982 build year.

I will have to use a vibra peen pencil to rescribe the build code on to keep tracability.

The 8274 is being custom fit into a 2008 4Runner deluxe arb bumper. I test fitted the winch assy in the bumper to figure where I wanted the support braces and plugs.
