I have my HAM radio display above the mirror and used a RAM plate like this-
RAM Mount Aluminum Round 2.5'' Plate with Universal Hardware for Third Party Cradles, RAM-B-202-G1U
bolted through the mirror mount screws with slightly longer bolts.
I have been using a lot of RAM mount products and try to use their aluminum stuff as much as possible over plastic. Just seems like plastic would vibrate more when you get arm extensions on them.
