The "other" Sangres trail. Rocky, a few little challenges, probably some trail cleanup, but not too difficult. If you like trees, views, wild flowers, water (bring your pole for a lunch time distraction), crawling along like a turtle, and especially historical value (just a tease - you'll have to go and see!), you should join me on this trip!

Meet at Loaf 'n' Jug at 115 and Cheyenne Meadows @ 7:30, depart at 8:00.
Ham: 146.580
CB: Ch 4

Hope to see you!

Sam

Never been over this one, definitely going to try and make it! Plus, As close as the meeting spot is to my house I dont have to leave home until like 7:28:grinpimp:

I'm in for sure! Shanna and I were married in a meadow near the start of the trail and I spent a summer chasing campers up and down that road for 11 weeks straight.

I am finally getting a little free'ed up I may just be able to make this one. How bad is the trail? I have and old friend with an old Toyota truck no lift but bumpers and sliders with winch that I may ask to come with. You think he would be ok? The wife is going to be on call so it would be just me and the boys and we will most likely camp.

Where exactly is this trail at? Since I am in Buena Vista, I wouldn't be able to meet at the meetup location. But if it is over in my neck of the woods I might be game along with some buddies.

Matt- I used to run up and down in a stock 2nd gen 4Runner, 22re IFS and 31"s. That was 11 years ago before a fire and wet seasons came. Trail Damage calls it a 3-4 rating, same as Shubarth. Biggest challenge is climbing on loose cobblestone hills. One big rock but much easier than Hackett Rock. Only chance for pinstripes will be above Rainbow Lake going up to the mine.

BV taco- Join us!!! Take 50 east. You can turn south on the road next to the gas station in Cotipaxi, or if you miss that go to Texas Creek and turn south on hwy 69. Just as you top out of the canyon and hit the valley you'll see the town of Hillside (just a post office stop really) turn west and follow the signs for Rainbow trail Lutheran camp.

Any one going home the same day? My friend Gary may come with but isn't set up for camping yet and was wondering if he could follow someone out since he doesn't know the area to well. I still plan on going but they may do mandatory overtime this weekend. I sure hope not.

How long do you think this will go? Really wanted to do this, but I've had some plans made for me on Saturday.

Who's in on this? Who's camping? I plan on running the trail, but camping is up on the air. Thought about shooting over to Medano to camp. Depends on the mosquitoes, about got eaten alive at Holy Cross last Saturday, they didn't care how much spray you had on.

I plan on heading up Friday morning to get some hiking in. Also plan on leaving Sunday afternoon after some hiking. Not sure about where to camp...there is a USFS campground on 198 before the Cloverdale Mine trail starts. But I'm game for anywhere...
