Radiator replacement didn't get go as I'd hoped

Thanks. Yes, the fan is still out and a new water pump is arriving today. Already replaced all the hoses. Should be done tomorrow, thanks to this group.

With all the corroded fasteners you've already encountered, the water pump may not come off without a fight either. Spray down all the fasteners twice a day for a few days before you touch it. Heat from a torch can help a lot too, but you have to be careful not to melt anything that shouldn't be hot though.

Sometimes the videos on You Tube are not as complete or as detailed as they should be. For example, I've been building a neutron collider in my garage for the past two years, and there's really nothing on You Tube that's been very helpful.

It's just fortunate that I haven't had an urgent need for anti-matter...

pic or didn't happen?
Did you consult with Dr Kaku?

I just replaced the radiator on my HDJ81. I bought a brand new OEM unit from Impex. Removal of the old was fairly straightforward. Maybe I didn’t read correctly or missed it but did you release the tension on all of the belts before trying to remove the fan/fan clutch? Sorry to hear about all of the corroded nuts and bolts, yes, a real PITA. I have been down a few rabbit holes on my HDJ81 as a newbie, a little bit fun, a lot of bad language and shouting but in the end it all works out. Thank you for sharing.

Had a chance over the weekend to put in the new water pump and studs and get the radiator all buttoned up. Very satisfying. Appreciate the support and recommendations from this group.

Nice work! You don’t need a shop to work on that thing. 👍

Man if I had a nickel for every time I thanked my stars for my truck having come from Vegas. I literally never run into corrosion or rust. The first time ever was on the lower right rear shock bolt, and it still came off with minimal fuss, it just complained about it the whole time. I did have to put up with the built in cell phone wiring, chrome wheel package, and some other silliness, but it was a small price to pay in exchange for seriously, zero corrosion.

Glad you got her sorted out.
