I know some of you like racing like we (Val and I) do, so I thought I'd start a thread to follow this year's different series. Hopefully, a large number of y'all will join us in Austin in November for the inaugural Formula 1 race at the Circuit of the Americas, and this thread might help to keep all updated along the way. (If you're interested, check in with Val, as she's already getting everything scheduled)
Now, I'm no longer much of a NASCAR fan (when they adopted the "Car of Tomorrow" format with all of the cars being identical, NASCAR became, in my opinion, a weekly IROC series.) That being said, I do like most any other type of racing, and one of the best series out there today kicks off its season this weekend at the 50th Anniversary of the Rolex 24 Hours of Daytona
Rolex 24 At Daytona - Daytona International Speedway.
GRAND-AM Road Racing - Official Web Site
NOTE: Many of you know Will Pace (owner of Circle 7 in Madison) and his brother, a friend of mine at MSU, is racing the #50 Predator Racing BMW Riley prototype in this year's race (See below). Jim (a former overall Daytona 24 winner) is driving with Elliot Forbes-Robinson (a former 2-time overall Daytona 24 winner) and, of all people, Brian Johnson (lead singer for AC/DC)......sorta makes the races more interesting when you can follow a specific driver.
Anyway, just wanted to get a thread kicked off for this year's season.......................
