Quickest/Easiest throttle linkage for 40/45 to edlebrock/sbc

I've also got that 79 FJ40 that I have been parting out for this 45 project.

Would that pedal assembly be of any use to me?

Thanks, Matt

The Downey stuff worked on my '76 FJ40 w/350/Edelbrock carb. But I'd use Lokar stuff the next time...

Nick

Do you have a pic(s) and a link to your set up?

Thanks, Matt

No, unless someone put a cable pedal set up in it. Stock would be a linkage style and not a cable style...

Nick is right on about Lokar...I have used their products, and they are top notch.

Surf around there for a while....or try AA's site, as they 'peddal' Lokar also...and may have a part number for you!

I must be an idiot, I am completely lost.

I know the 79 is stock, so that is linkage style. But do I want that style of pedal, or the one that came stock in that 45?

There's a cable style stock?

Thanks, Matt

Do you, or anyone, have a part # for Lokar's set up? I've looked at there stuff, but can't really tell which one I should be using?

30 minutes and I am outta here............

Matt

Yes.

From 1970 to 08/73 40's had a cable controlling the throttle...

Get yourself a pedal from one of those....should be able to find one out here, and then get a cable kit, and you will be good to go! :)

FYI- The pedals sold in the conversion kits are the same thing as stock...from what I have been able to tell....

Been lookin' while we have been at this, and I cannot find one here...I thought I had one...and a cable!

The lokar set ups that I have used are for the Ram Jet...different set up than your carb.

If you want bling get the stainless, if not, go with the other one... :)

24" universal...

Probably want to get that carb bracket also...

Get a pedal from another vendor...I am not aware of AA selling them..

Good luck!

Ok, the fog is beginning to clear now...........

Would I have to mattify the firewall, or would one of these, "stock cable style" pedals bolt right in?

Simplest and easiest........

Thanks for being patient with the slow kid here, Matt

Pedal bolts to the same holes as your stock one did (I THINK, I'm not as sure about the really old stuff...). You will need to make holes for the cable to mount to the firewall. Then take your pick of brackets for the carb side of things... After all you've already done this is cake. :D

Sorry, no photos of my old setup. That Cruiser was parted many moons ago.

Nick

It will require Mattification....possibly the bottom hole to mount the peddal pivot can be re-used, but you will need to drill a new hole for the top pivot fastener, and for the cable to pass through.

Good luck!

check www.spectreperformance.com they have what you need. i used there universal throttle cable and there bracket p/n 2428 the cable was $24.99 at shucks auto supply and got the bracket from summit racing for 9.99 plus a lovely handling fee, i think summit has both but i already had the cable. works great and the cable comes with a couple diferent connection so it works on many diferent set ups.

sorry dont have the cable p/n any more.

Bringing this back to the top since I'm still figuring this out.

I just happen to have a 73 firewall that I got from a guy over a year ago and it still had the pedal on it. Took it off and took a few photos.

Is this what I want? If yes, what exact cable do I need now, part #'s or direct link would be nice??

Pics also if any of you have this set up?

Thanks, Matt

heres some picks of mine i got the info from somewhere on this board . don't know what the cable is from i got it from a place called princess auto in canada had some surplus stuff . cost $5.99 ,but before that i was using bike cables also . had to run a longer throttle cable because whenever i was in a flexy situation the body flex would cause the throttle cable to get pulled revving the crap out of the engine .
