I have just received from JapanParts the Premium Horns. Couldn't read instructions so had to improvise. Took the whole 5 min to put in w/o instructions and love the difference. Well worth the $65. If anyone is interested in buying original horns from 16 LC, let me know ;)

Interesting, know of a before and after sound file anywhere online?

Seen couple but it is almost impossible to hear the difference. I had the upgrade on my lexus so new the difference is noticeable.

Here it is one of the videos

These look nearly identical to the LX570 horns, save the "Premium Horn" sticker. The LX horns are pretty loud from the factory... Did the LC get different horns?

They look almost identical and original are good, but those are even louder with more pronounced sound that should get more attention. Since I cannot be as defensive as in my BMW in avoiding stupid on the road, getting as loud horn as possible to signal is worth the investment in my book.

I'm interested in purchasing, one of my horns stopped working.

Of course, now i am interested in the premium horn!

Anyway, PM me if you want to sell yours

Just installed these in my wife's 16 LC. Took a little longer then five minutes, only because I dropped my socket wrench next to the battery and couldn't fit my hands down there to retrieve it. We can't tell the difference. The original horns and premium horns are both 500hz high note 400hz low note. Both sound great. I put the original horns in my Tundra for a big improvement. I bought these from Japanparts.com(thanks luke27617) and the set cost $54. About the same as one factory horn here.

The premium horn is the same spec as we get stock in the US LC 200 and LX 570.
The premium horn is for upgrading a Toyota that has the road runner horn we typically associate with compact cars. This is why it's not sold in the US as a LC accessory.

See here for Toyota's comparison-

As you can see Land Cruisers elsewhere don't get the 400hz/500hz horn as stock. (40 sec in)

The US stock horn is good- it matches the specs of 3rd party horns like the PIAA sports horn and the FIAMM freeway blaster.

IMO the only reason to change the horns is because one wants a different sound or louder. But I think the only path up from US stock is an air horn.

Just be careful not to go too far.
Haha this is pretty funny-

Keep in mind messing with your horn in the extreme might get you a ticket. The laws I've seen, if a state has one, is vaguely worded like "unreasonably harsh or loud".

Yup... police discretion. All depends on the law, the culture at the department, and the person doing the job.

Agreed. I think prosecutors also play a big part in determining how departments handle certain crimes.

Back on topic I've always been a big fan of the old elephant horns.

Hella Supertones. Great horns. The factory paint job on the red ring is weak, just paint them before installing. Toss the factory screws, replace with stainless. I've had mine behind my grille for almost 15 years.

Technically, e-code headlights, LED bulbs in the tails, and even the slightest tire stickout from the fenders is illegal in NH. But if you just don't drive like an a$$hole, nobody cares.

I didn’t know that about NH and tires out of wheel wells. I drove my 96 4Runner with 1.5 in spacers up there for years and never heard anyone give me that warning. Good to know though!

I was about to purchase this horn on Ebay but started reading their description with a caution about voltage. Has anyone here heard of that or had any issues?

“Most of my products follow the Japanese electrical standard.
All Japanese electric machineries operate at 95V-105 V (50Hz-60 Hz). Therefore, please do not use this product at a voltage over 105V!
Since the United States uses voltages of 110V-120V, it cannot be used in the US. It also cannot be used at 220V-240V.
One way to deal with this problem is to use a step-down transformer. There are important points in using a step-down transformer.
If a machine you are using a transformer with has motor or generates heat, you will need a transformer with three times the wattage of the machine.
For example, if the product operates at 100W, you will need a transformer with a capacity of 300W.
This is because the machine needs two to three times the amount of electric power than normal to start up.
Please be aware that deficiencies in capacity can lead to breakdown of the transformer or the product, and, in the worst case, can cause a fire.
The plug type in Japan is type A.
Plug types also differ across countries, so please use a conversion adapter to change the plug to type A if plug types are different. Conversion adapters also have electric power limits, so please use them accordingly. There are some conversion adapters that are originally designed to handle 100V-240V, so you can check the instructions on them about electrical outputs.
If a conversion adapter can handle the electric power, all you need to do to use the product in your country is to change the plug to type A.”

I bought my from JapanParts (first posting) and still works great. BTW you don't have to worry about 105V. Car operate on 12V. Plugs were the same.

You just took the old one off and installed the new one?
