Hello All,

A few questions as I am continuing to feel the gravitational pull towards a LC200... I have been debating trading my truck in for a 2016+ LC200.

Currently household has a 2016 F150 platinum (my vehicle) and Lincoln Navigator (wifes). The truck is slowly gaining appreciation for its year / options so I would probably try to privately sell on a ford form / trade + $ here on mud.

A few "concerns" that keeps me from pulling the trigger
-We already have one full sized SUV...
-I am already used to the 15-20MPG that the F150 gets for fuel economy, but the main concern I have is gas tank size differences. My truck has an extended 36 gallon tank which gives 600+ miles per full tank (great for road trips and not having to fill up as often) vs the ~24 gallon tank on 200 series.
-Truck bed for truck stuff (household projects mainly, don't tow all that often). Has anyone switched and really missed having the truck bed?
-Remote start annoyances... The Ford platform has pretty intuitive remote start procedure. You start the car via remote, get in and then press the start button without engine ever shutting off. For those that have and use the remote start on LC200, do you get used to the engine being killed then restarting? Maybe that is just a nitpicky thing
-Carplay... I have read all the threads and options, but not sure if I would just try to adjust with the clip on phone holder or go Beatsonic route

I have read 4-5 other threads asking similar questions, but wanted to ask a few specific ones to my situation above.

Thanks in advance!

Immediately make arrangements to add a 24 gallon LRA aux tank. Or go to the 40 gallon. I chose 24 since that's what was in stock in the states when I was ready for it. Would have taken 40 had that been the case. Game changer when you have 2X+ the fuel capacity/range. Move spare inside if it's going to be a road trip vehicle. Leave at home if only driving locally and have a buddy bring it to you in the rare chance you ever need to replace.
CarPlay works perfectly on my '17 and my '18 using a $100 or less unit from Walmart. I didn't want to dig behind the center stack.
Remote start - you'll get used to it. Not a deal breaker.
Your location states Houston - if you need a truck, rent one for a day or two on Turo.

If you're in Texas...
Need a truck. Borrow your neighbors. Both will have one. What brand? Doesn't matter to get that load of mulch from the nursery.

No experience but I know a couple aftermarket companies offer remote start (w/ Takeover)... which means the engine won't shut off when you open the door.

Thanks,

I have also looked at this being a potential "fix" if I switched vehicles and was bothered by the tank size. Did you have any suspension issues / changes with the added LRA aux tank?

Ha, good point!

I am well surrounded by truck owners on my street.

I had not seen this as an option before. Thanks for sharing!

No suspension issues or changes on my trucks.
We considered the 12.5 (able to keep spare underneath) and 40 gallon (bigger always better, right? could always just half fill...) options but the wait would have been several months so I went with what was available and have been pleased. No transfer pump or squeaking issues that others have noted (fingers crossed) and we've had them for a few years.
Now that I may tow my boat from time to time with the LC, I will likely take a day and install airbags in the rear springs to prevent potential drooping, especially if fully fueled up and 4 people + luggage. In hindsight, should have just had the company that installed my LRA tanks place them as well (ACC Garage in Atlanta area). Few hundred extra $ that day would have saved me the looming project...

One thing people don’t always consider is the typical lack of climate controlled gear storage in a pickup. Back before I bought my FJ60 new in 1986 I drove a 1980 Ford F350 crew cab ex-‘line truck’ (if you know northern Alaska from the time you know exactly what I drove). Great truck but anything I put in the bed during winter was frozen solid in no time. Having the heated storage area in my new FJ60 was well worth it.

SUV and small utility trailer was my solution for lack of truck bed. Don't miss it one bit. Second tank fixes the fuel problem (I agree...insanely limited range). Remote start issue is frustrating as is toyotas outdated tech but if you can live with those things as a small downside to what i feel is the best allround vehicle on/off the road.
