I'm stuck here. I'm from Idaho falls and really want to move back. I make more money here than I could out west and I have student loans I'm taking care of. I travel for a living and try to find stuff while I'm in the road. I get two full months off a year one in the summer and one in the winter and a bunch of other time off. I get home today and will have two weeks before I'll go back to work. Sometimes I have a month off unplanned. I don't have family out here so I spend a lot of time working on projects. I know I'll have to put work into something, but I have plenty of time for that.

The 55's have gotten really expensive over the last few years. When did you guys buy your rigs for that cheap? I don't mind spending a little more for the right rig. Just not sure what that is in this cruised craze.

What do you guys think the BAT auction 55 is worth?

Here's the craigslist ad. I tried calling them last night. I'm waiting on a buddy to call. His dad restores cars for a living and has some advice for me.

1976 Toyota FJ 55 Land Cruiser

I restore cars for a living, and I can tell you (after restoring 2 FJ55's) that what applies to most cars does not even scratch the surface of the iron pig.

I used to have the rust rule of 3. Whatever rust you can see, it is 3 times worse than that.
I had to make the FJ55 amendment, which is the rust rule of 7 when looking at an iron pig. In addition, and aside from the fine replacements Bobm sells, there is almost no replacement sheet metal, by comparison to something like a chevelle or mustang.

Check out Project Moviestar thread. The exploration of rust is educational.

I saw the pics of the 55 you are working on. Looks really nice.

The 74.... I would lean more towards buying one from a Mud member who has been around for a while. Either that or local buy with someone with Piggies expertise. Delancy will chime in.

buy one in NM/AZ/SoCal!

Both of these worked aces for me. Also narrowed my search and helped keep me sane while looking.
