Hello all. Great forum.
I've never had a cruiser but those 70 series wagons are the nicest looking vehicle I've come across. I recently sold a first gen Montero LS below that looked similar and it was affordable but it felt a skosh too narrow. Are the 70s larger? I've never seen one in person.

These guys are in your neck of the woods and should be able to help .........

Definately wider but not by a huge margin. The Montero is a Pajero in Australia. The 7* series is a 3 seater in the front on some models, its not comfy with 3 but you would never do that in the mitsubishi
My troopy measures 1445mm wide internally from the top of doors just under the door lock.
The landcruisers are a big step up in terms of quality of materials and workmanship.

Hello,

70 Series are a little bit wider and a little longer. As mentioned above, there is room for three in the front, unlike the Montero/Pajero.

In my humble opinion, Monteros/Pajeros are sort of a light duty 70 Series.

Under the 25 year rule, you can get yourself a 1993 or 1994 HZJ77.

Thanks very much everyone. I would love to have a '93 or '94 LHD HZJ77, gasoline, automatic with AC if such an animal was made.

Perhaps a RJ77.

If there was such a thing, it would be called a FZJ77, but its the unicorn of the 7* series. This is a good site to understand the scope of the 7* series and other models you dont see in the US

It looks like the 60 series is a lot easier to find with those features but I like vertical back doors like this one on ebay. Wonder if those doors can be found and if they're interchangeable.

They are interchangeble and some have the captive nuts for the hinges under the paint. I sold a couple of rust free barn doors I had intended fitting to my HJ61 but I sold it. They are probably getting hard to get in nice condition. And you will have to look outside of North America.

Good to know. Thanks very much. I'm beginning to think I need to get another Montero and widen it somehow. That was my only real issue with it. My mechanic said it felt like riding in one of those 4 door Wranglers which are insanely priced.
