I read through several old threads on Tundra 17" Rock Warrior wheels, and found ONE post mentioning that special/different lug nuts are required to mount these wheels.

Is this correct or bogus?

I'm looking at some RW wheels this evening, and need to know since these wheels do not include lug nuts. I may be able to negotiate a lower price if I have to spent a pile of cash on different lug nuts. I'm currently running the Tundra TRD using the Tundra lug nuts. Will I need new ones?

Yes, you need the lug nuts to match the wheels:

Splined Lug Nuts and matching wheel locks: PTR27-60110

$160+ on Amazon / Ebay.

Yes, different type.

Agree with TonyP, but be careful on 3rd party versions.
Many of them are sold WITHOUT conical washers at the base.
Without the washers, they can start to grind in to the metal as you tighten.

I’ve been looking to replace my locks. Anyone know the correct McGard part number because the two I see on their site aren’t the correct length.

No. The locks. I want to replace them with lugs, but McGard doesn’t show any of the correct length according to my caliper measurements.

Also, don't use the Toyota/McGard keyed lug. It'll strip and leave you screwed.
This is interesting as I’ve started to notice my locking lugs (and the key) seem to be deforming a bit even though I’m religious about torquing the lug nuts to spec....

Yup. I bought a brand new key for my lugs. After using it about 20 times (20 key'd lug nuts removed and put on), the key was hashed. And I wasn't using an impact or anything. Threw those things away as soon as I could. Locking lug nuts like that aren't all that useful at keeping thieves at bay anyways.

In my experience...the most common people they keep from removing the wheels are...
...the owner.

I will never use wheel locks again.

Stranded out of town once...on my 100, & two other times they stopped me because of inability to remove wheels after the tiny chunks of metal that make up the actual key broke. The keys are flimsy, and held together poorly. During that same period, the "lock lug" fell out while driving when a shop didn't bother telling me they broke the key (and couldn't tighten it sufficiently as a result).

On the bright side...

I strongly suspect that very few thugs carry spline adapters, which means the odds some opportunist punk goes for your wheels are pretty small. Plus...they are only 17” wheels. -Not exactLy what most wheel thief thugs look for.

Plus... habitual thieves can just use a removal bit and crank just about any lock nut out anyway...the same way I did when one of my “keys” broke.
