I was running a Amazon Distributor that the PO had on the Pig. I pulled it off the 1.5F and installed it on the current 2F motor. I have maybe 500 miles on it now, and it failed.
It melted the top internal coil around the shaft. I would like to blame the China Dizzy, but I just hooked up the Tach wire to my AC for the "motor running pulse". Only 100 miles since AC install.

Could the AC put a load on the Tach output to make it over heat this coil? It looks like this has been imploding for a while.

Thanks!

Is the AC amplifier still in place?

If you are dealing with a factory or period-correct Nippondenso A/C setup, the system routes its power through a small control module called the AC Amplifier. This amplifier is designed to look for a pulsed RPM/tachometer signal (originally tapped from the negative side of the ignition coil).

If it does not detect this signal, it will completely prevent the compressor's magnetic clutch from engaging.

Everything with the AC is still there. Factory Nippondenso and it works as it should. I have read from the diesel and efi forums to use the tach wire, that the pos switch would work the same. The compressor clutch wouldn't pull in till I hooked up the green tech wire from the hei dizzy.

I drilled out the rivet to get to the burnt stuff. It pretty much seized up the shaft.

Looking at the shaft bearing area it appears Chinese distributor is the issue with their shiddy clearances.
Burnt stuff looks like the result of overheated bushing, unless you did it wrong enough you wouldn't have enough current on that melted coil to create any heat.

I had to talk myself into spending this much. Glad I did. Fit is better than the other one and it is just built better. Changed it the cork gasket for the side plate while I was in there.
