86 - 89 should work. Make sure it is a 4Runner frame. Also you want to match engines for the easiest swap.

Easiest is a 4Runner frame, '86-89, they are all the same. You can also use a SWB pickup frame, but it will require a lot of fab work, mostly with the rear body mounts.

Motor mounts are slightly different on the frames. Not impossible but a 22RE frame will be easier. Would need the mounts relocated forward a few inches I think.

Mmm... The only problem im having tho, is that i can not find any first gen 4runners that are within driving distance with the 22re for cheap... If i was able to find one than yes, but my options are limited, it sucks...

motor mounts are not difficult to relocate just get some measurements from a 22r frame cut the old ones off and weld in the 22R ones , if you cant weld yourself a fab shop can do it for a reasonable price.
We Cruiser guys do it all the time on engine swaps

Nope, very different. Different location too.

When you get your body off your old frame, you will see the difference, and it should be very apparent what needs to be done. It's a little tricky since the mounts are part of the upper control arm hangers. You need to be surgical with the grinder when cutting the factory welds.
