Uh oh...

I just picked up 2 of those metal cam-lid cans from a local Military Surplus store and I got a new metal flexible spout that the owner supplied still wrapped in plastic.

Are these the leaky spouts?

Sounds like it. I bought a surplus metal cam-lid and the new metal flex spout I also ordered is a piece of crap. Leaks all over. :o

I'm thinking of going with Sceptor after Dusty's report

Hi All:

I too am a big fan of the metal NATO "Jerry" fuel cans; mine our late 1960s British Army surplus.

A couple notes of caution regarding the WEDCO pour spouts: first of all, they might require a little bit of "custom bending" to fit on all of the various military surplus "Jerry" cans on the market; second, be aware that the plastic flexible extension on the WEDCO pour spout may pop-off while re-fueling the vehicle! (ask me how I know this! )

One of the bad things about losing the plastic extension tube from the pour spout into the fuel tank is that the mesh screen on the WEDCO spout is located inside the plastic extension. Once the extension tube is lost into the fuel tank you have nothing filtering the fuel going into the tank - potentially a problem (a real problem for me last summer while on a trail run!)

Regards,

Alan

Purchased 4 swiss cans from Sportsmans guide. Used them on River Shiver (AWESOME event!). The cans worked great. Purchased a spout from Sportsman guide too - it was advertised as "Nato Approved" but in fact is made in Taiwan and is a POS. Purchased a Wedco spout from Expedition Echance. Works great.
