pyrometer for boats and cars interchangeble ?

I saw a big price diffrence between them,but they look the same.

same temp range (100to900 C)

So why cant i hook up a marine pyro in the exhaust manifold to measure the tempratures ?

you can, as long as the voltage to supply the gauge is the same and the temp range is within the same working limits.

Would be good to know which thermo-couple series is used with each gauge as the different t-couples do not interchange.

They should tell you which thermocouple is used with which gauge, it is possible the OP is getting a complete kit with thermocouple or he is seeing cheaper pyrometers because they aren't including thermocouples in their kit
