I have a reproduction soft top and I purchased new OEM twist locks from Toyota. My question is what tools, hardware pieces do i need to put the holes in the canvas. Any one have any pics of this process.
Thanks
Nathan

You'll need to order the grommets from McMaster-Carr They are part# 95678A678 Turn-button fastener. You'll also see on the same catalog page that they sell a special cutting punch to pierce the material. If you have an extra $56 go for it, otherwise use a razor blade or exacto knife.

Once you install the grommet and press down the tabs to hold the rear washer, you can slice open the material inside the grommet.

If you need help while you're doing it just PM me. It seems scary to cut holes in your top, but once you do the first one, you'll get comfortable pretty fast.

That tool works slick. OCD loaned me his so I could put twist locks in the front corners of my bikini top. But, like they said, it's not a necessity.

You can clean up the holes nicely using a good hand hole punch
Sounds great I will try it when I get the parts in. :bounce:
I could not find machine bolt style on the sail web site but thanks

Just go with OEM Toyota.

I just did mine with Alex's top, OEM twistlocks and a razor blade. So easy even a caveman could do it. Was nervous on first one, but it really is simple.

I just a pencil to mark where the hole should go. Cut a hole so that I could press the canvas onto the twistlock. I then placed the "male" (larger pert with tabs) piece of the grommit over the twistlocks and cut four small slits where the grommit tabs are, then put it all together. The tabs on the grommit can be folded over in the rear with channel lock pliers.

I used a lighter to clean up the frayed bits in the grommit, very simple. 10 Grommits took 1/2 hour taking my time.
