Coolerman You're right, the housings are the same. You could change the drive gear and the shifter and use it as a F-N-R box. Wish I'd thought of that. But I guess I wouldn't have known until I compared the two. Check and see if you can find those parts and let me know if you're interested in the box.
Desertpat I tried that first but it didn't work. Wish it were that simple. If you respool the line so it winds in on the bottom of the drum, it hits the winch frame.
