I am in the process of redoing my A/C in my truck. Its an 84/hilux/22R/SR5/etc.

I have a condensor, drier, blower, retrofit kit, etc. The only thing I dont have/Dont know how to get is the Hardline. I want to redo the whole thing, but dont know if I can use the Steel Hard Line Oriellys has or if I need to go through Toyota and get the whole assembly.

Will Steel Hardline used for brakes, fuel, etc. work for A/C line?
Do i need to go through Toyota and see if they can get a whole Aluminum Assembly from the dealership?

Thanks!
Jayston

I believe the "hard line" you are talking about is the line that comes from the firewall to the condensor coil in front of the radiator. The ends are not flared, they are a special fitting with an O-ring and a captured nut. Plus, it's a VERY complicated bend.

I have the one that came out of my truck, but I would think that shipping would be more than a new one from Toyota.

To answer my own question, yes it needs to be OEM spec, and Toyota recomends nothing less than their own. BUT for some very strange reason, they can no longer sell me their tubing, as they can only sell to me what my vehicle calls for and what it calls for has been discountinued.

KLF, since it has been discountinued I do not think it would be very much compared to the fact, its impossible to find, and there are no junkyards around. If you could maybe quote me a price for shipping I would be honored!

Wristy, If you do remember in my last thread, My :princess: (girlfriend) has complianed about heat on the trails. Understandable, if you catch my drift :flipoff2: Ice cubes make things small... But are an intricate part of anyones party. And when they melt it makes you look like you wet yourself. That would just cramp my style.

The line is in perfect condition, but its up in my storage unit 40 miles away, I won't be up there till sometime next week. Not sure if you want to wait that long.

And, AC is a wasted effort on the trail. You're constantly opening and closing the doors, real men take their doors off. You need your windows down at least to hear the spotter.

And we cant have that.
Well, i was refering to the wet pants. Other than that i dont have style

I would take my doors off, but there is safety concern, as this is my daily driver.

I can make some tube doors like that^^^

But the other problem I run into is the fat little 9lb doxen idiot that rides around and likes to jump out.

Im considering Half Doors, and will probably make some. Anyone know of a sweet looking half door?

KLF; I would still be very interested in the lines. Ill talk to some people and see what they think shipping would be. If its not a problem and your willing to part for minimal cost I would consider maybe the condensor/lines together that way i can take the new one back and cover the majority of the shipping. Thanks!!!

I have no use for this stuff, and I really don't want the hassle of trying to sell it. I'm only keeping it because it's too nice to throw away, it would be much easier if it was all rusty and beat up. You can have it for the cost of shipping. My son just took delivery of a BudBuilt crossmember, I still have the box, it should work perfect.

Do you want the evap coil? I haven't pulled that out yet. I already tossed the dryer/reservoir, as you can't reuse them after they've been opened (so I've been told).

KLF, I would appreciate it if you would send as much of the AC stuff that you can fit in a box. It will go to good use.
The Drier/reservoir can be reused. But it does nuthin for the system. Would eventually ruin it, if not right off the bat.

Thanks guys,
Jayston
