Etching numbers I believe only stops ones that maybe resold.

Catalytic converters are being stolen primarily for their valuable precious metals, such as platinum, palladium, and rhodium, which can be sold for a high price.

For a Prius? Sweet! ;-)

I assume you meant for a 200. My LC gets garaged, so no big concerns with them being stolen.

Wondering if anyone who has had theirs stolen (on their 200 or any other vehicle) would mind chiming in with how the insurance claim went. Someone jacked the cat on my daughter’s Prius V last week. Dealer wants $4k for the cat plus another $500 for the o2 sensor and $400 for a replacement event heat shield. We have comprehensive insurance through Allstate so technically this is covered but I just have a feeling it’s going to be a fight with them over a $5k bill on a $10-11k vehicle.
Surprisingly… no fight. Allstate is paying the dealer for a new cat, o2 sensor, and heat shield. $4700, less my $250 deductible.
