Is it possible to get apple car play, google maps etc on a 200 series infotainment system? The biggest thing holding me back is paying a lot for old technology when you look at other vehicles it’s laughable.

Thanks

Technically anything is possible.. But from the factory, no. Only aftermarket solutions.

Yes, it is possible...in the option package named "2020 Sequoia".

Can you point me to good aftermarket solutions?

There is nothing good out there. Yeah, there are options, but most of them very buggy and requires some tearing of your dash out. For me, that is a no go on a $90k vehicle.

For me, i have iPhone 11 Pro Max mounted on vent mount (see link below). Close for me to interact with it easily. Does not block line of sight ahead...yet eye level for me to see my phone easily. Does not block any other buttons or dash screen. And yes, the vent mount is very steady off-road.

Nope.

Toyota resisted Apple CarPlay and Android Auto for some time. They didn’t want the value data about car usage going to Apple and Google instead of themselves. So they stuck with their own system, Entuse, which sucks.

It is only in the last couple years that Toyota has seen the light and realized that they are losing sales because Entune sucks. So Toyota has started adding CarPlay and Android Auto to its vehicles, one vehicle at a time. The Corolla, Camry, RAV4, Avalon, Tacoma, and 4Runner now all have CarPlay. I believe Android Auto is coming to those vehicles if not already supported.

Unfortunately, the Land Cruiser has one of Toyota’s oldest infotainment systems and it does not support CarPlay. I suspect that the Land Cruiser won’t get Apple CarPlay until Toyota releases the 300 Series.

By the way, Lexus infotainment systems are even worse.

100% true. Why Toyota/Lexus is so out of touch with consumer preferences is beyond me. I agree that they have lost and are losing sales due to no APC or AA. LC and LX are so old and dated that it may never happen in this generation. Quite sad. And yes the Entune or whatever it is called is a steaming pile of garbage that should have been eliminated years ago.

It does suck to pay good money for older technology.

I'm with @Madtiger on this. As long as I have BT connection with the audio system, that's about all the integration I want. I prefer to use my cell phone mounted close within reach and view. A vehicles MFD even if up to date the first year, will quickly age. Cell phones will always be better in response, integration, and capability as I regularly upgrade every 1-2 years, vs the on-vehicle system. Unless it were a Tesla perhaps.

Here's a solution some of us are using. I have the standard iPad on the dash over the screen; others are using the iPad mini. Works well and always up to date data.

Toyota has seen the light. They made a bad decision initially and have changed their minds. They now realize that Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are required. But they are only about a year or so into rolling out that capability across their fleet.

As for the Lexus touchpad debacle, I'm not sure they're yet realized just how bad that system is.

If the infotainment system is the biggest thing holding you back perhaps you should wait for the 300 series? That’s if it brought to the USA. I personally could care less about the outdated infotainment system. Even if Toyota rolled out a state of the art system for the 2020 it would be dated in 5 years. Like others have stated phones iPads will always be more up to date. By a 2020 for the simple reason that it’s likely the end of an era in cruiser evolution. My 2020 is on order.

I get the desire for apple CarPlay and android auto. My other vehicles all have it. And we use it. It’s great. However in the 200...I just don’t miss it, need it or desire it. We didn’t buy a 200 for apple CarPlay. The Land Cruiser IMO is not about infotainment. It’s great to have that stuff but once behind the wheel of such an incredible vehicle, I don’t miss any of it. Cheers.

100% laughable. This is limited in its applications, but I really like mine, I haven't experienced any bugs of note, except for getting my first one stolen:
