propane , camp fuel or batteries ?

I have a mix of these items and want to consolidate everything in fact I have not used my kerosene items in 10 years. I was looking into picking up a Coleman 30" distribution T and the light that screws on the top this looks like a sweet setup, I want to then build a plywood camp kitchen / chuck box . I have 3 20 lb cylinders I think this should last a long time.

when I was a kid my our house had a back up wood stove and propane lighting system hard plumbed through our hose in the rural Chilcotin where I grew up . some of my friends had kerosene lanterns permanently mounted in their homes . heck 30 years ago we had a a manual hand pump for water in our kitchen .

Any body still using white gas ? I cant see being able to avoid propane so I may as well embrace it and make everything run off of it.

I still use white gas, I have small mtn stoves as well as my trusty Coleman 2 burner I bought new in 1982. In fact, I still
carry it in the original box. I oil it, and it always works. I can fill it and I'm good for 3-4 meals. A 20 lb propane tank is
cumbersome, although I have been carrying a portable BBQ grill ( because 60 wagon has space ) and using little 1 lb bottles.
With 18V lithium ion batteries, and LED, camp lighting is one battery for 2 weeks. I use a PC USB/12V adapter keyboard stick light in the
truck if I want to read at night and see.
I've not been a fan of kerosene lamps and stoves because of smell, and 20+ yrs ago they were unreliable ( for me ).

You can refill the 1 lb propane if you don't want to pack a 20 lb tank. I don't believe in replacing something that is working
for me. I don't think going to one fuel is necessarily going to make it less complicated. It might just cost more money.

2 burner Coleman white gas. Mag light flashlight and a small batt. powered lantern(for the kid). I prefer no lights at night unless absolutely necessary.

I use gasoline in my 1960's Coleman 4M ($20 at a garage sale and $1.40 a litre for fuel compared to $5 for propane). I use a white gas lantern but really with head lamps for the family, that's all that is needed. LED tent light for inside the tent.

Gasoline is not ideal though, not recommended for travel inside your vehicle because of smell. Same problem with kerosene. When I camp with the fuels go in the utility trailer.

Propane is the most convenient, for sure

very interesting. i'm either behind or ahead of the game. usually take the genny with a s*** load of xmas lights. that runs everyones ARB fridge and the lighting. just take a 20 pounder for the bbq and that usually covers everything.

Propane and solar. Never did the white gas thing so I don't get it.

I have all three. We now use propane more often than white gas. My wife doesn't really feel comfortable using white gas. I do like the old fashion hiss it gives from the lanterns. Reminds me of camping as a kid.
