Ranger, How bout some pics man. Dont recall ever seeing yours. Plus it sounds pretty sweet.
I am supposed to get my parts pig in like 2 or 3 weeks I wish I had the money to keep it around and chop the heck out of it. Once I strip it its gone though. I'll just have to stick to the chopped pig I have for now.

I'm a computer tard, I still haven't evolved to posting pics stage yet. I just got a digi camera so as soon as I figure out how, I'll get some up.

This is mine. Chopped roof, and 18" off the back.still in progress

Nice do you have some pics of it that you can post up in a new thread and talk about it. Not to many people have cages in their pig. Also what kind of bender do you have? I would like to get one but havent seen any that I think are a good deal or that I'm willing to drop the money on at this moment.

does anybody have any more pics of the chop of the green tray back? the JK Customs link doesn't work.

This might be a good way to resurrect some old pigs with severe cancer from the mid rockers to the near end.:)

I don't guess anybody knows of an aluminum tray back bed that would be in the NW either.....???

thanks, sorry to resurrect such an old thread....

 Nice bob job ;p Was it a PITA aligning the rear sheetmetal once you cut out the middle section? I got frustrated with it so I cut it all off. I only bobbed 12" off mine as I still wanted *some rear storage - heck my 40 has more storage behind the seats than my :pig: when my rear seat is up. We need more body modded :pig:s on here, like the direction this thread is goin :bounce:

Truck Bed?

Is that a 45 truck bed on the green mod pig? If not what is it from?

This is a brain-storming thread for a little project that's been slow cooking in my head for a while - so feel free to comment at will. Let me start out with saying I've got to many Cruisers in the driveway at the moment, and have been kicking about ideas how to thin down the heard. By my own logic I can rationalize the 40 and 80 because of various practical reasons - but my beloved Pig gets left out other than the fact I like it to much to ever sell it. So I started thinking about what I actually want out of a second vehicle and came up with a couple of requirements:

1) Convertible - I live in Texas and it's too damn hot to be closed in w/o AC.
2) Wheeler - I want to be able to wheel something capable other than my DD.
3) Hauler - I need to be able to haul around my **** and pull a trailer.

Looking at this list, neither my 40 or 55 fit the bill exactly and as much as I lust after a 45lwb, which would, it's not the easiest vehicle to find (not to mention wheel). So I start thinking about this SOA piggy I've partially built already, but it's got way too much body rust to ever be pretty. This is where it gets interesting, lets start with theses -

Now we've got two of the requirements going for us, why not just chop the top as well and make it exactly what we want :D I'm thinking loose the roof and everything behind the front door pillars, chop the rear corners plus about a foot, and weld it all back together with a tray-back Mudrak style.

What do you guys think?

Tucker

I think the bed is a homemade trayback flatbed with hinged fold down sides. I sent JK Customs an email today and he said he is not familiar with this truck.

If anyone knows anymore about this green truck or the shortening of a 55 into a truck cab please lets hear about it

I think I found the green pig before the chop on pirate4x4.
Looks like it belongs to GreenPig, but he hasn't posted in a while, he even took the portals off it.
does anyone know if he is still around?

LOL I took that pic and was driving when the photo was taken that was the photochop :)

Brian sold the body to Terry Holben in Colorado, the portals to someone else, and is actually in the peace corps these days in Karjistan and won't be back for a few years. Great guy, still lurking here here and there, we miss you Brian if you are out there!

Nice photochop. Now that i look at it closer i can tell with lines between the bed and background and with the reflection on the rear glass of the cab.

Sure hope somebody out there makes this happen, i would love to see the real deal.

Sure would be cool. A lot of work but very cool.. Funny because basically this concept is "factory" in Australia, the 70 series front looks so much like a 55 series front, and they have their traybacks. Probably the easier way to do it unfortunately :)

This is mine now. Im going to add 4 more doors to each side and make it a strech limo so I can cart around cute high school girls on prom night.

ArtHog is this one still alive?

if it is really rusty maybe this pickup conversion can become a reality....

I hate to be the first one to try this, not enough skill...

maybe could be done by Andre or other pro...

I found a company in seattle that imports aluminum traybacks, though...:)

)

Not rusty at all. Im really going to put it on a rotisserri, fit what little rust it does have fix the drivers side door and a couple of dents and swap the body onto my 1970 frame. the 70 is running well with a 4BT. I do need to install 60 axels though. the stock 55 axels DO NOT WORK WITH A 4BT EVEN WITH A SOA.You will hit the oil pan with the drive shaft. Im on my 2nd one.

Hay I just hit 100 posts. Yah I know, BFD
