Who did the blasting and priming on the tub, Jon? I've got my off the frame and am looking at doing the same thing. I'd like to ask how much it ran you, if they're reasonable I may drop mine off REAL soon...

Sounds good to me... was that epoxy they used?

Wanna drop by my house on the way? I've gotta get mine somewhere also but I don't have a trailer, we should talk...

I've got just about all my parts ready to go (need to take some busted bolts out of the windshield frame.

All I've got is my small trailer, but I'd be willing to work something out....

especially since I'm going to spend some time with you powdercoating...

We should also talk frame galavnizing while we're at it. They're in Graham... there was a minimum weight/price and if I calculated it correctly two frames was about the same price as 1. if you want to go that route...

My mistake, I somehow thought you had a "full size" trailer, we will talk more soon.

Sorry for the hi-jack Jon...

Got a little body work done today...cut out the rusty rear sill and patched. Also cut my rockers a bit and mocked up the beginnings of slider.

Moving right along. Post some more pics of the metalwork. Looks good from what I can tell. A lot better than what I did with zero knowledge and even less patience. Gas would have been nice too when I was doing that sheet metal work :)

Jon, trying to follow up on this for Brian and I.

I couldn't find "Carolina" quick strip, did find "Affordable" quick strip. Wes gave a phone quote of $100/hr, estimated 8-11 hours for my FJ45 tub, bed, hood, fenders and frame + $250 to epoxy prime all but the frame.

Just want to make sure I've got the right place. Sounds like you got a great deal or he is over-estimating the time to do my 45 parts...

That's the same place I found when looking up Jon's reference...

Its a shame your not allowed to work on cars at that rental house :hillbilly:

Thats pretty darn steep. I use a place outside of Nam that i know to be much better than that.

Gainey's Sandblasting - Linden, NC, 28356 - Citysearch

Have been using him for along time. If you call him tell him the landcruiser man in raeford that has had him work on a few others over the years sent you.

Just trying to help out any way i can here as i know with most funds are tight.

That is pretty steep...let me call and talk to chris tomorrow. He and Wes are partners.

Making some headway

Got the chance do work on this the past week. Shackle reversal done, oem soft top frame installed and almost finished tacking together the MetalTech family cage. Also installed a pair of BudBuilt quarter panels.

No pics now...maybe later.

Should be able to finish the cage today and install sm465 and Orion transfer case later today. Maybe this thing will be drivable by 2013??
