Howdy all rookie Pete here just showing up to the thread world. All new to me. I was told I should sign-up and share my frame off restore project on my 66 FJ45 Shortbed. A true diamond in the rough I found and bought in November 2009 in Sacramento. It was complete all the way to the original black/yellow plate. It had very little rust and some body work needed. The passenger rocker is the worst of it. Anyways, after many years of owning cruisers, having done a frame-off restore on my 69 FJ40 I've decided to build another. Inspired by the ICON FJ45 and other 45 projects, I look forward to getting this vintage cruiser back on the road and perhaps making the trip to Pismo or even the annual 45 run. The chassis is almost complete and I'm starting on the body work. I will post pictures as I reach different phases in my project build.

That rocker panel is very, very fixable. Mine on the LWB didn't look much better after the beating I put the truck thru at Glitter Gulch Gambol '06, but nobody who wasn't there is any the wiser now.;)

Look forward to seeing the progress, and hopefully the rig.

:)

Welcome! And please keep up updated. Always good to see another 45 rescued.

Hanson bumper

That bumper looks good! Guess you modified a jeep bumper to fit?
turned out well, and don't see many of those bumpers on a Toyota.

Hanson Bumper applications

Thanks for the look....I liked the look of the Hanson Bumper so I inquired about it at a local cruiser/4x4 shop...What we have here is a 52" Hanson Front bumper with a winch hoop and zinc coated brackets for us cruiser guys. You use the 2 hook holes and 2 rivet holes on our cruiser frame. For a clean application--weld 2 nuts inside frame at hook location and the same at the rivet location and your set. Brackets mount up and bumper bolt right up...The brackets come wobbled out a bit for a perfect adjustment fit...cost associated is & $800....or so...very nice set-up.

Front Bumper

The bumper works pretty well....saw it on another cruiser truck and had to go that route....the zinc coated brackets make the install a breeze.
