^^^This procedure worked for me to program the locks on my 2002 LX470.

On a side not, if anyone is looking for a flip style key, I just received this one from Taiwan. Key was cut by photo and it works perfectly. The flip key fells solid and the material feels alot sturdier than my old plastic OEM key fob. It took about three weeks to received from Taiwan. The seller offers a few other style of flip keys also.

This worked great for me on a 2005 LX. The key is super smooth in all of the lock tumblers. The only hiccup was that the instructions to program the FOB didn’t work. The alternate instructions in this thread did the trick though.

Compare to another “OEM” style key I bought on eBay, had multiple trips to the locksmith to cut the key, they couldn’t program the FOB (I did) and the remote transmitter has no range. I’m still working with the seller to get another remote to try.

I recently purchased a new transponder from here Remote Key Fob 3Button 4D68 Chip for 2003-2008 Lexus GX470 LX470 FCC ID:HYQ1512V | eBay - https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/404331361105?mkcid=16&mkevt=1&mkrid=705-154756-20017-0&ssspo=dz5areznsic&sssrc=4429486&ssuid=6wxWgwwnQYS&var=&widget_ver=artemis&media=COPY

I can get into the programming mode for my 03 lx470 using the instrauctions in the formula however the key won’t code. Ie after the press the lock/unlock button, nothing happens. I’m wondering if the key is no good.
Can anyone recommend where I should buy one from?

Okay just to confirm, i have a 2007 LX470, i bought the key off eBay and was able to program the remote to work!

This is the link to the eBay ad i bought it off of, i at $17, it's a no brainer, plus the unit itself looks really good and the key part is very sturdy, doesn't wobble or feel weak.

But don't count your chickens yet, i have to go get the key cut and program the immobilizer, any reason why the remote work but the immobilizer would give me issues, or should i assume it'll be able to work?
Can confirm this works on an '06 lx 470! Here's an updated link

Got the blade cut at my hardware store for $4 and used the cReader Elite to program the wireless fob and register the key with the immobilizer. So looks like for 2006 LX 470 at least the 4D68 transponder chip and HYQ12BBT transmitter are what you're looking for. Hope this helps anyone interested in an aftermarket key fob alternative. My only complaint is that I marred up the aluminum a bit while trying to set the pin which holds the key blank to the remote. I'm just a gorilla some times though and likely not an issue for everyone.

Can someone save me from having to read 6 pages?
I came over to
A buddies house and noticed he had his old transponder hooked to the key ring. I thought I could simply move the battery/board from the old plastic housing to the one with the key, but the immobilizer won’t let the car start.
I’m not understanding why the physical key won’t work with the old board. I could bring over techstream the next time I come over, but wondering if there’s a quick fix here.

Wait a minute. Maybe his “new key” has the chip programmed to the immobilizer, but the lock/unlock buttons aren’t programmed and he has to use the old buttons to unlock.
So I think I just need to get his new buttons programmed to lock/unlock.

The RFID immobilizer chip, and fob buttons, are separate functions. Maybe move the RFID chip from one fob to the other?
