Hello All in the house. I have tried searching for the above in the forum but did not get any result, maybe i am not doing the right search.

Please the AC in my landcruiser vx 4.7l 2uz-fe engine is not working as it is suppose and i need help solving this out. before this problem it used to blows very cold on low both from the front and rear vent.

Problem- The front AC is blowing warm no cold air at all while the rear is blowing cool air but not very cold. The AC technician has done the following- he added more gas and the problem remains the same and we have changed the following. the compressor, Rear Expansion valve, front expansion valve, condenser filter, the front evaporator, re-gased the system and yet the problem remains the same.
These components are been changed during this period. after changing one item and problem not solved he says let change another. the only thing remaining to change now is the rear evaporator and hose lines on the system. And i am now frustrated by this spending.

During his last troubleshooting, he opened the front evaporator door where the filter is and the evaporator itself is not cold, he said the evaporator is supposed to be ice cold that it is the ice cold that is being air blown out.

Please has anyone experience this faulty and how it was solved. i really need help to solve it.

Thanks for all advice.

Why would they just change all of these components, surely the pressure gauges on the A/C machine would of given a clue to if the system works. Are the high and low pressures in the system good or bad, I would be more looking at the front heater box, the flap that controls the temp in the front, and the control panel side of things. You don't say what year the vehicle is.

Are the lines under the hood leading from the compressor cold? Replacing hose lines won't help if there is no leak, and changing the rear evaporator isn't going to help the front cool. Julian pointed out to look at the flaps that control air direction. Not well known, but many vehicles now run the heater all the time and control how much hot gets in the mix by the flap door movement. If that fails all I can think of is temperature sensors and/or your technician did not pull enough vacuum (to dry out he system) before reintroducing the refrigerant.

Check your sensor right below the ignition key. It's attached to the cover and has the yellow hose attached to with 2 wires. Make sure it clean and connected.

sorry, vehicle year is 2000 with 172,000+ mileage

OK. I will ask him to check for the sensors.
for information, he opened the AC filter door on the front evaporator and we can see that there is no Cooling at all in the evaporator body.

for the controls, if turn to heat we get hot air and when you switched back it becomes ordinary air blowing out.

I accidentally forgot to reconnect that sensor after doing some work behind the lower driver side panel recently. My AC now only works if MAX Cold is selected. This is on an LX470. Maybe check to see if the ac works when you turn the temp all the way down?

I had the same issue like you...left the sensor out and it's only work on max cold. I had the engine off when I plugged my back in alone with the hose. My work right away as I started the engine. I think you should check the sensor back to see if any thing missing or broken. You can do a resistance test with a volt meter...I don't know the exact value of the sensor but resistance should changes depended on the temperature.

What was the overall fix for this????????????? or did it not get fixed and it was parted out!

I have the opposite issue, cold air up front, cool air in the rear on my 2000 LX470. Was looking at re-engineering this after the answer was found. But we may never know.

Hey buddy, did you find the solution to your issue? I have the same problem and I am starting to research it.
