Hey guys have been out of the landcruiser scene for sometime. I still own my HJ60 but it is getting ready to give up the ghost. One head light is out and can't figure out the problem. at 457,000 km I think I need a replacement vehicle

I was looking at an FJ 80 for sale in honey moon bay. It runs on propane. My main concern is that it has 265 thousand plus miles on it, the head has been rebuilt new pistons, but the crank hasn't been reground on it. Also the a440f tranny has never been rebuilt and is getting close to reaching it useful life. My old HJ has the auto tranny and has been experiencing lock up chatter for some time. A rebuild is anexpensive proposition.

Anyhow i feel a bit like a sh*t asking for advice since it has been a while but any opinions about the FJ80? Thanks

Sounds like that FJ80 wouldn't gain you much over your HJ60? Perhaps hold out for a better shape FZJ80? They can be had in decent shape for a decent price. Although both gasser 80's would be a shocker at the pumps compared to your diesel 60.

yeah seapotatoe thats the one. Took it for a spin rides okay. I was intereted because of the propane system. pretty nivce looking rig.

As far as my 60 it us the 2 light system. right side head light blew didn't notice it. Kept driving because i figured was driving mostly during the day but gradually one battery ran down lots of oxidation on the driverside battery. the running lights and the headlight on the right side don't work. Put in a new light but still didn't work. fuseable link on the left battery is still intact. Don't really know where to look further.

Rust in the usual spots on the body. The wheel wells are rusted. The frame has already been repaired once hasn't cracked yet but I feel it is close. Engine still starts when I recharge the batterries basically only good for parts or junk yard I think. May well have somene tow it away.

it will probably limp home but your call. I have the battery out right now but it started on tuesday. We'll sort the details when you pm me. Cheers.
