Hey guys, I haven't posted here in a long time, but I have a "pressing" question. Next weekend I am installing an OME Heavy suspension with a friend and I don't want to worry about pressing in the bushings myself at all. Is there a good shop in town you guys would recommend?

I don't want to take it to 4WHEELPARTS because I generally don't like the staff there and I know there are much better local shops in town that would probably do it for a better price anyways.

Also, any pointers and tips on installing the lift would be helpful. Already printed out and plan to follow Slee's guide, and looked at a few threads in the 80 section. Putting on PB Rust remover this weekend in advance.

Thanks.

I made a jig and got the new bushings part way in with the "tool". 4wheelparts was the only place open so I went there. They put the jig and bushings in the press to finish the job. The guy was great only charged me something like $20 maybe even less. It seemed silly cheap to me. That was a year and a half ago ymmv.

There's also Predator 4x4.

I would give Jerry my money before I gave it to 4 wheel parts, just because he works pretty hard to fight for Longwater and hackett.

If you bought the tool from Slee, You would be welcome to come over and use my 20 ton press, long drive to Woodland Park, but the hours are a little more flexible. I can torch the old bushings out for you if need be too.

Which brings me to another question. You gonna be around tomorrow. I'd love to bring your hoist back. I'll call you tonight.

I Will be around all weekend. No problem on the hoist, I barely have room for what's in the garage now. You just got it out of the way for me for a while and I didn't even have to pay a storage fee. ;)

Thanks guys...I've heard good things about Predator and I am definitely more willing to part with money for a locally owned place than a Mega Chain. Plus, 4Wheelparts quoted me $200 just to install the bushings.

BLACK95--- If I can't get in to Predator this weekend I would like to take you up on your offer. I have the press tool. Thanks.

This weekend won't work. It's our Buena Vista camping weekend. I will for sure help after that though. :bounce: I bet we could have those things pressed in in about 30 minutes.

Got it...Just found out from the shipper they most likely wont be here in time for this weekends install anyways, so looking at early next week. Black, do you happen to have the diagram showing what angles the bushings are supposed to be pressed in? I bought it second hand and the owner had it installed at Slee, so no diagram.

No diagram, but it shouldn't be hard to figure out. The purpose of the bushings is to rotate the axle to help with caster issues. The front bushing should have the eyehole up, and the rear down. I would put in a call to Slee to see if they have any special instructions.

Leon, do you still have any instructions from your kit? or did it even come with any?

You need to get the orientation correct. I don't think I have the instructions anymore but I believe Christo has them on his website. I still have the jig and I would not attempt the job without one. You can borrow it, assuming it will work for you.

Yeah I dont think guesswork on something like bushings will go well. I'll see if I can find a diagram to print out.

Hunter- would you mind if I stopped by somewhere convenient for you to pick it up? Any time is good for me.

Lower Bolt rear shock is hard to remove. I used lots of PB Rust remover and still broke it. Take your time with it and use as many applications of PB as you can on it.
