hello everybody

i have a 75 Pig with a 1F motor and no powersteering which makes my pig impossible to drive

i have the opportunity to purchase the power steering out of a '79 piggy with a 2F motor. my question is has anyone done a PS swap of this kind is it as easy as fabricating a bracket for the pump and everything else should mount right up?

Bill

79 was the only year factory PS was a ail able on a pig. I run it on mine and am happy, but will be doing a 60 upgrade as soon as funds allow

And the bracket should be there on the 2F

Wait,

If you want to put the PS on your F motor no can do, without pulling the motor and having the bolt holes drilled and tapped into the block. Get a 80 or dee 2F and go 60 series

Check out my thread, just got done with a power steering upgrade

What about making a bracket instead of tapping the block.

The '79 PS box will mount to he frame no problem, you'll need to fab a mount for the PS pump. Problem with the F is the air cleaner is right where you want the pump, you can also mount it on the other side and run lines across under the radiator.

I'm actually going to an aftermarket air cleaner so that works out.

What holes do I use for the bracket?

Eventually I'd like to put a Chevy v8 in there can I reuse the pump on that assuming I make a new bracket .

The air cleaner on the 1F/1.5F mounts to the head bolts, several venders make brackets that mount here but most are for Saginaw pumps. You can make a similar that will work for a Toyota pump, IPOR used to make one too. Or you can just go with a Saginaw pump since you're wanting to go Chebby eventually anyway ...

so the Saginaw pump will work with the other power steering gear box? sorry if this is a dumb question. i'm not power steering savvy.

dumb question number two ( of ten thousand) will the before mentioned 79 fj55 ps pump work on the v8 (with the proper adapter plate )? would the belt or anything else be a problem?

Anything is possible, but it would be easier to just go with the pump from the engine and adapt the hoses ;) This is what I did on my MB diesel in my pig -
